suspendedsecond replied to your post: I once saw a post that said something like...
but I feel like people know that astrology is baseless, and just have fun with it anyway. idk I like thinking about both (as well as hogwarts house, element bending, etc).
But even Hogwarts houses (and I assume element bending too) are at least based on your personality. Like MBTI, with those, it’s a case of, “Since this fact is true about you, this fact might also be true about you.” It’s based in something tangible, which astrology posts aren’t. It’s like a post saying, “Roll a dice,” and I get a 4, and they say, “Oh, you got a 4, that means your biggest weakness is...” Except that dice has twelve sides and was rolled when I was born and I keep the same number for the rest of my life.
And I don’t see what’s fun in that. I’d like to take you at your word that other people genuinely do, but when astrology posts are so consistently wrong, I can’t fathom what other people find so fun about them. I’d rather read someone trying to make a guess about me based on something they already know about me (my Hogwarts house, my MBTI type, etc.) than someone just randomly guessing. It’s way more fun to see whether they’ll get it right when they actually get it right sometimes.
Plus I know more than one person who is genuinely invested in astrology, who will say, “She’s acting this way because she’s a virgo” without any irony. So I tend to think that people who reblog astrology posts genuinely believe this stuff, and that’s unsettling.
