❛don’t die.❜ she says plainly, words sharp and unforgiving. firm, as if trying to reinforce a law. annie breathes, chest heaving. she holds his arm, hellfire raining down onto them. she can’t breathe. all she can see is fire, burning houses, peacekeeper suits. her hold on him is tight, clutching him like no tomorrow. it’s more for her than it is for him. she’s trying desperately to hold on, not wanting to sink back into oblivion again. but she can’t breathe. she can’t breathe and there’s fire,fire,fire. she wants to curl up and hide, because she can’t take this, the sound of screams and the feeling of being suffocated. she wants to give up but she can’t. ❛you can’t die, i can’t ❜ she swallows and tries again, closing her eyes in concentration.
