It's been a long time since I last checked in on Giant Squid, and I'm kicking myself for not returning to their work sooner. In 2009, they released this album fully through their own funding and promotion, which was a shock to me because I kind of thought they'd been getting famous, but a quick internet-read-up on them laughed that idea off. This cannot continue! If you're into progressive metal in any way, check these guys out. This album sees them freely changing styles and moods between songs, so sometimes you get sludgey metal affairs while elsewhere the record turns to lounge jazz and flute-folk.
