Dark Knight AU - Fray and the Pirate
“You’re not dead, are you?”
The voice is faint but... clear somehow. He doesn’t want to pay attention just ... sleep...
Something pokes him faintly but its mostly numbed. “Well, you are mostly dead. And its so cold here you’ll freeze the rest of the way dead. Come on then...”
It’s a woman’s voice. “We’re gonna fix you up. Or do you not want to live? I’ll drop you.”
It’s like a light - a light in the storm, an aetheryte in the haze of the Lifestream -
“Oh good. An aetherspark. I can work with this. Living it is!”
Fray will takes weeks to recover but on his quest of vengeance, he is shadowed by a Lominsan who seems more interested in cheering him on than talking him out of it. She won’t take his soulcryst though.
“it doesn’t work for me, stupid. I don’t need it.”
(AU in which Suzune finds a mostly-dead Fray in the Brume and brings him back from the brink of death. What follows is Fray attempting to foist the soulcryst on her, her indulging his trip around the realm and cheerfully helping his quest for vengeance.)
“You folks bottle things up.” she said, swinging her legs and looking more child like than she had a right to. “We don’t.”
“Who’s ‘we’ and ‘you folks’“
“We - my family. Well, Lominsans but my friends says I keep lionizing them but I know my family doesn’t have as many hangs up as you people.”
“There are things you can’t change.”
Suzune smiles, eyes glinting in an eerie light. “Don’t be stupid. When I say jump, they ask ‘how far?’
(I’m not likely to write it out but yeah. This is what happens to Suzune instead.)
