despite her habit of rambling on a bit too much, suzy never had any friends. probably because of said reason, thought she didn’t fully understand why. she knew she could be a little annoying sometimes because of it, but it festered out of a mixture of nerves and desperation to connect with someone. not that she didn’t mind being alone, she was completely content being on her own, sometimes preferring it. she liked getting dinner and a movie by herself, wandering around campus and the surrounding areas with only her thoughts to keep her company, but that didn’t mean she wanted to be completely alone.
she had signed up for the field trip in hopes of making some new friends, and an excuse to get out. one thing that sucked about college life was that you tended to be isolated, if you had no car the college campus was all you were able to explore and she felt claustrophobic. she was very much a homebody, someone who wanted to settle down in a quaint apartment with a few cats and have a place to call her home, but she needed to go out too. she needed parts of nature to get lost in, fields of grass and flowers to let her fingers brush against as the wind blew through her hair. she needed more than what the college campus had to offer, so going on a field trip seemed like the perfect opportunity.
she never got that chance though, as the bus lurched forward waking her up from her slumber, and her high hopes of seeing a new location shattered as her eyes adjusted and saw only the campus she was so accustomed to once more. she was confused, didn’t understand what had happened and why they were back. she could hear mumbling from someone, maybe the driver or other students, but with her mind still half asleep she couldn’t comprehend what they were saying, just following the other students off the bus instead.
she rubbed her eyes trying to force herself awake, feeling groggy and like she could almost fall asleep on the ground right here. she didn’t even want to turn her phone on and check the time because the bright light would sting her eyes too much. instead she forced her body forward, tapping on the person in front of her for their attention. “excuse me, what’s going on?” she questioned.
