chase was startled when the bus came to a quick halt, feeling himself almost lurch out of his seat as it pulled forward and stopped like it had some extreme importance. he thought they had arrived until he looked out the dirty bus window, recognizing the campus set up and that he had stood in this exact spot hours ago while being picked up to be on this bus. his eyebrows furrowed in confusion at the sight, pulling out his phone to check the time. the bright light blinded him but he got his answer with how late it was, but more questions as to why there seemed to be no service.
he followed the others off the bus at the drivers command, watching as he left with the same swiftness and urgency as he dropped them off with. the man seemed like a reckless driver, he wondered how he even got his license and how his driving didn’t wake him up earlier. he checked his phone once more to see if he had any texts, and his phone was surprisingly...dry. even with the late hour he would have expected something considering his home screen was never not without a notification. he opened it to check anyway, surprised to find that none of his texts were sending to his friends.
he stood as he checked his phone making no immediate guide to move and resign himself to his bed and await for answers tomorrow, instead checking his email expecting something about the field trip and what they were doing back. everything seemed fine, the weather was perfect and if there was some bump in the road surely it would have woken him up, or the driver would have at least told them why they were back. if that gave no answers hopefully his email would, but neither did that.
“hey, do any of you guys have an email or know anything about why we’re back? i’m kind of clueless right now.” chase didn’t feel right going to sleep without an answer, he didn’t feel right about anything going on right now in fact. everything just seemed...off.
