Coastal Cruising: Finding a partner when inland & single?
Have you come here looking for answers? Let's brainstorm. I ask because I really want to know.
Dating sites don't seem to have enough like-minded people to sync up and click with for this kind of adventure. Every third profile says they love "travel" and "adventure," and the photos from Machu Picchu or the streets of Paris prove that's not untrue. The truth is that this is a very specific kind of adventure. For any of us that follow one or more sailing channels, I'd say we're content either living vicariously, or we're tormented by desire to get out there and join in the fun. Some of us are bound by responsibility... That family of four with kids on sports teams, two dogs, and office jobs that still manage somehow to take care of the in-laws; it'd be a tough transition to cruising life. But for the young couples, or even single people with 1-2 "portable" pets, the prospect of transition to a cruising lifestyle is well within reach. But who wants to do it solo? So, yeah, throw out some ideas. How do we find our people? Local yacht clubs? Websites? Maybe write a blog entry on tumblr and hope it finds the right person?
"Talk to me, Goose."
