— Reading comics had never been a past-time of Jiyoung’s — he didn’t have the money to buy them as a kid, and stealing something that was (in his opinion) little more than pieces of paper with pretty lines on them didn’t seem worth it, so the foundation had never been set.
But something about the comic book store had caught his eye, and the bright, saturated colours called him into entering. He wasn’t sure if it had to do with the fact that he was ever so slightly tweaked out, and the colours just looked really cool, or if there was any actual interest lying beneath his drug induced euphoria, but either way, he entered the store in high hopes.
Looking around, it became immediately clear he was out of his depth. Shelves ceiling-high lined the walls, each of them filled to the brim with comics that he’d never even heard of. He looked around desperately, trying to find some help, when his eyes settled on a woman behind the counter, her hair an even more vibrant red than the ink on the books. He walked over.
“So, I’ve never read a comic book in my life. What’s good?”
