Pants rolled all the way up to his knees, his skin embarrassingly reflecting the light like a mirror as the night sky didn’t offer much help. Vlad had his feet dipped into the surface of a local pool. His hands were hooked over the edge, pressing against the concrete — trying to feel the texture underneath his nails. So he sat, and stared, as if the water was going to give him every answer he ever needed.
