Athearn Ready-to-roll SW 1500 in the Chicago Short Line scheme right out of the box with only hoses, lift bars, and ditch lights added. In this case, the ditch lights are not operable, but it is a work-in-progress, so I might finish it up and add functionality. I have seen these locos in Northwest Indiana and they are kept pretty clean. My grime rendering is probably an insult to the prototype’s maintenance crew. These models are pretty nice with some nice under-frame details, but also some weird things like the hole in the cab that would normally hold a handrail bracket, but is empty on this version of the loco.
