Queer Star Wars Characters (Round 1): Well Known Characters Match 1
Padmé Amidala vs Alexsandr Kallus
Padmé Amidala
Alexsandr Kallus
Padmé Amidala | Identity: bisexual | Media: Established in Queen’s Trilogy
E. K. Johnson’s Queen’s Shadow established Padmé as bisexual, harboring unacted upon feelings for her handmaiden Sabé. This was further explored in the final book of the trilogy Queen’s Hope, where it became a tragic love triangle for Padmé between Sabé and Anakin. Sabé represented ideology, duty, and thinking about the bigger picture. Being with Anakin represented forgetting all these things, a selfish love where she could just be herself. As the movies already established, she chose Anakin. And we all know how that went.
Alexsandr Kallus | Identity: mlm | Media: Star Wars Rebels
Since it’s a TV show, I’m going to assume that people already know about the relationship between Kallus and Zeb. Unfortunately, other than his first name there are no fun EU tidbits for me to share. But as a reminder, Kallus and Zeb’s relationship being romantic hasn’t been officially confirmed via word of god. However, it has a level of textual support greater than any other popular slash ship (and similar to other canon ships), hence his inclusion in this bracket.
