are they really implying that han and leia did not talk at all about what they were gonna name their kid until he was born. at which point han immediately tries to name him after himself and is shot down. i hate it

i do kind of not like the authorial choice to make the independent force user tradition notably weaker/less developed in their abilities than the jedi and to have luke in particular go "these are all potential jedi who need some training, dont hurt them." feels kind of :/. and also i think in this context luke as a character would probably not want to hurt or kill them if possible even if they *werent* Potential Jedi? like, these aren't imperials or whatever it's just a civilization neither side had any previous contact with

not a huge fan of the implication that the problem with the shit plagueis is doing is that he's trying to "measure and minimize the force" and pick apart how it works? like,, this is Really Really Creepy but more because of the part where he's doing a bunch of frequently lethal and almost certainly nonconsensual experimentation on slaves, not the idea of analyzing the force in and of itself?

i can't quite verbalize what i don't like about this but it's something

also just feels like a very jedi viewpoint tbh, that you shouldn't pick apart the force or make it seem less Sacred(tm) ig? i feel like the vast majority of the sith don't bother trying to dissect it like this but more because it's not necessary or relevant to them than because it's An Abomination and An Act of Blasphemy

"it is not supernatural" i feel like there's a discussion to be had about what supernatural even MEANS when you can shoot lightning out of your fingers etc

there's a few things in this book that seem slightly Odd to me, "shadow hand" as a straightforward synonym for sith apprentice doesn't sound anything like anything ive heard elsewhere and im not sure if "marauder" uncapitalized here is meant to refer to the same concept as specifically sith marauders? and i don't understand some of the force philosophy stuff but that's nothing new

probably the biggest thing is the suggestion that darth nihilus has a gun

like, why is that remotely necessary can't he just use the force or throw lightsabers at people or what have you

tbh i am really enjoying the way this book is handling just how powerful anakin is, and how hard that would be for a child to deal with 

like, that it scares him, that he kinda scares obi wan (who is nonetheless trying very hard to be a Good Dad to anakin), let alone everyone else, the amount of imagery along the lines of “he burns like the sun”

and that he’s trying so hard to control some of it but then when he gets too angry or too desperate it just sorta.comes out and people get killed in really unnatural seeming ways 

i love this and i love anakin
