more simmosa headcanons:
this isn’t really a headcanon so much as it is canon just left unsaid but. amy and jonah show their affection towards each other the most when they’re alone together. i don’t really get the criticism that they stop seeming like they’re in love once they start dating as if every moment leading up to it that’s the most romantic isn’t when it’s just the two of them! the problem with the later seasons is that they never have scenes with only them and i think that is what people should be picking apart.
they don’t share clothes at work (they’re not stupid like they know their coworkers would never let them live it down if they noticed) but they do at home and occasionally when they’re out and about running errands. amy likes wearing jonah’s pajama bottoms even though they’re stupidly too long so they tuck under her heels. she’s also definitely worn a jacket of his when it’s extremely cold out. jonah does this less often but he likes wearing old cloud 9 merch that amy stored in a bottom drawer and never thought about again when he forgets to do his laundry.
jonah almost never gets to play podcasts when he and amy carpool to work. the single exception is off book because she gets to (try to) sing along and that is exactly what she wants out of a commute. belting along to a song. she never gets embarrassed about it either because they do it together.
he plays dnd. she doesn’t get it.
feeling festive: there isn’t a holiday episode in the first season of the show so i do think there could’ve been an almost kiss between them under some mistletoe somebody put over the door of the break room.
this feels implied in the show already but just to make sure we all know it. amy definitely tried to text jonah after the breakup about more than the americans. i think she probably drafted several versions of an apology before hitting delete on all of them because she knew none of them would be as good as one given face-to-face.
general headcanons for the show:
most of the staff pick up a little tagalog after arguments between mateo and marcus become too intriguing not to understand. but also i do think there is something inherently filipino about amy and jonah. she has a brother who is technically played by a half filipino and he knew a little too much about duterte for it to only be related to his interest in politics.
amy and garrett play video games together a lot. this was the case long before jonah ever started working at cloud 9. when garrett and jonah were roommates amy would come over to their place occasionally to play and jonah would somehow be the one awkwardly third wheeling. i like to think the two of them kept in touch after she moved to california that way. especially over the pandemic! garrett never tells jonah about it until long after for obvious reasons but he secretly really is glad to maintain that relationship. i mean come on! he thought they were gonna work there forever and die old together!
mateo becomes about as competent a handyman as eric is while working at sturgis and sons. glenn is shocked by how easily he takes to the whole thing but there is also this unspoken understanding that mateo is more dedicated because it’s a second chance in a way. not that cloud 9 wasn’t worth it for the people he met but now he’s working somewhere that his efforts are actually appreciated.
in an alternate universe where superstore and abbott elementary are not only on the same network but also airing at the same time there would be a kinda sorta crossover episode where the teachers go back-to-school shopping at a cloud 9. the tie-in could be with the season 4 premiere. someone offhandedly mentions a scandal in missouri that happened a couple of months ago and everybody gets to wondering if the workers got fired. there is even a nod to the glow-in-the-dark stars. (janine mentions loving them yet never having the guts to stick them on the ceiling due to her fear of ladders but gregory says he could do it for her.)
jonah and marcus hooked up once while amy was in california. and yes it was at her place. you could ask me “is nothing sacred?” but considering the fact that glenn and jerusha did it on her bed this feels small in comparison.
