hi! this is super random so don’t feel pressured to answer but i was wondering if there are any kdrama’s you’d recommend? preferably something that’s not too long but with romance and a good couple i can fall in love with?

omg yes! not sure if you need them, but i gave short descriptions of each!

crash landing on you. i gotta recommend this one, it has taken over my life. easily one of my all-time favorite couples from any story! it’s 16 episodes, though they are like 1.5 hrs each, so it’s not necessarily short, but it flies by for me. basically about a woman who accidentally ends up in north korea and has to hide with a captain in the army until she can escape

her private life. !!!! this is a top tier couple! i might be biased because this drama features the fake dating trope, which is an absolute fave of mine, but really, they are adorable. it is about a woman who works at an art gallery but secretly runs an idol fanpage and her boss, who is a famous artist. (16 episodes)

queen in hyun’s man. super adorable couple in this one! it’s been awhile since i’ve watched it but i definitely loved it. a guy from 300 years in the past travels to present time and becomes involved with an emerging actress. (16 episodes)

my secret romance. idk i feel like a lot of people didn’t like this one, but i thought it was a fun time! definitely a lot of romance here. its about two people who hookup, then years later, they meet again as boss and employee. (14 episodes)

master’s sun. i can’t not recommend this drama, it’s my favorite! it follows a woman who can see ghosts and the man that makes them disappear when she touches him. (17 episodes)

okay i just have to say, i was (and still am tbh) utterly obsessed with narcissus and i think i’ve re-read it a hundred times but for some reason i didn’t even know about the existence of valē? and i hate myself for it? because holy goddamn shit, it’s amazing. like, their separation scene? the becho breakup? the way its all happening AGAIN with the s2-4 throwbacks? the whole fic is downright poetic. it’s lyrical. a greek tragedy. honestly one of the best things i’ve ever read tysm for writing it

AH STOP this is so nice i’m so happy that you like both of these stories!! when people tell me that they re-read my fics that’s the highest compliment in the world because when i think about the fics that i re-read every once in a while and how much i love them i can’t believe that people feel that way about my fics!!

also “a greek tragedy” i’m SCREAMING haha thank u from the bottom of my classics student heart. (i’m technically an english student but i’m getting a minor in classics if you couldn’t tell from the abundance of latin…)

i’m currently working on the next chapter of i know what we need (because my college classes are online now so i have nothing to look forward to but working at my camp this summer if that even happens and this fic lets me live there in my mind) but then vale is next in line! (there’s gonna be quite a time jump in the coming chapter or the next so just warning you!!)

Hi, sure! It’s from Tale of Tales by Matteo Garrone. It’s an Italian fantasy movie in three episodes inspired to “Lo cunto de li cunti” (”The tale of tales”) by Giambattista Basile (17th century), one of the oldest written collections of fairytales. I really recommend it, it’s full of beautiful imagery and it’s also kinda gory and bizarre.

The episode I used for my gifset is about an old spinster, Dora, who lives with her sister near the castle of a handsome but cruel and lascivious king. The king hears her sing from inside her house and mistakes her for a beautiful young woman. Dora shows him only her sister’s finger (whose hands are smoother than hers) through am opening in the door, which is enough to drive the king crazy and order her to meet him in his castle. She agrees that the meeting will only take place in the dark, and her sister helps her to smooth her wrinkles out as much as possible to seem younger and beautiful, but it doesn’t work: as soon as the king sees who she really is, he orders his guards to throw her out of the tower. The poor woman survives the fall and is found by a wood witch who has sympathy for her and casts a spell that turns her into a beautiful young woman. The king finds this beautiful naked creature in the forest and falls immediately in love with her, and soon they get married.

At the wedding, Dora’s sister, Imma, asks her what she did to become younger and beautiful. Her sister, unwilling to risk her secret, claims that she skinned herself. Imma is desperate to be younger and beautiful like Dora and pays a barber to skin her. In the end, she tries to go back to the castle where the king and her sister live happily, skinless and leaving a trail of blood behind her.
