Magnificent hypnotizing Jack as a way of baiting Chase (he is the superhero in this universe right?) and then Magnificent uses Jack, now enhanced with magic powers, to attack him. Jack can try to fight Marvin’s control if it’s not too much for you. I’ll let you decide who wins. Sorry about not being super clear earlier. This is my first time doing this.
(Here’s my first ever writing commission! Left it on a cliff hanger for now cuzzz I didn’t wanna overcharged after taking so long 😅 but I hope y’all enjoy! And slight info about writing commissions here?
Oh and the powers swap!Jack are using are heavily inspired by the amazing @beerecordings and her post about magic jack! Check it out!! Thank you for inspiring me Bee! )
The cafe was buzzing with activity as Alt looked over his warm cup of coffee at the stranger he was meeting. The entertainer had just recently put out an ad for some musical help with his shows and so far, this had been the only guy that had called. The man in question raised an eyebrow up at Alt over his own cup of black coffee as the socially awkward glitch cleared his throat and tried to think of the right way to steer the conversation.
“Ah- i’m sorry, what did you say your name was again?”
The stranger laughed good-naturedly and set down his coffee, smiling kindly at Alt.
“Sean, Sean Mcloughlin. But, all my friends call me Jack. You can call me whatever you prefer, I usually don’t have a preference!”
Alt nodded and smiled timidly, “Nice to meet you then, Jack.” He then paused and flushed, “Uh- i-i told you my name right?”
Jack full on laughed at that, “You don’t do this often, do you?” Alt blushed a bit more and messed with his hair and Jack knocked his arm slightly in a friendly way, “Lighten up dude, I won’t bite ya! Yeah- but i’m not sure i heard ya correctly, it’s Alt?”
“Y-Yeah! Alt. That’s me.”
“Pretty sick name dude- wish my parents named me something cool like that!”
Alt chuckled and took a sip, “Oh trust me- that’s not my real name-”
“Oooh, you know that makes more sense now that you think about it!” The boys both laughed at that. Then, Alt set down his coffee and pulled out his flyer and set it down on the table.
“So, what made you wanna come work with my show?”
Jack’s eyes sparkled- “Well first off, going back to the name thing. Your stage name, Antisepticeye? My friend when I was a kid used to call me Jacksepticeye because of an eye injury I got!”
Alt laughed in disbelief, “No way!”
“I’m completely serious!” Jack giggled, then tapped the flyer before sitting back. “But other than that- I work in the music production industry and I’m a freelance drummer in my spare time! I’ve seen videos of your gig online and it looks like a fun time.”
Alt flushes again, smiling, “Oh- you have?” Then his smile falters, “ah… you know this doesn’t uh… pay much right? It really depends on success and...”
Jack waves his hand and grins, “No problem dude! I just really wanted to get out there and find something fun to do! Drumming, music, sound stuff… it’s all so few and far between- outside work, that is. I’d love a chance to do something different!”
The glitch’s eyes lit up and he smirks lopsidedly at the Irish man, “Well, I can guarantee your nights won’t be boring.”
“Then, count me in!” Jack grinned, extending a hand out to Alt. Alt felt his heart leap into his chest with excitement as he took it, and they shook. The start of a new partnership- a new friendship.
Now, it was a week later. The Saturday night air was crisp and chill as Alt waited outside the venue he rented to practice in. But… it had been almost an hour and a half since Jack had agreed to meet him. He was… getting really worried. He didn’t want to jump to conclusions but… he knew a certain someone was out on patrol right now.
Digging into his pocket, Alt quickly pulls out his phone and dials the first number on his speed dial and after only one ring and warm voice answers, “Alt? What’s up Bro?”
“H-Hey Chase- Listen… uh- remember that guy I was talking to you about the other day? The guy I recruited to play with me on my sets?”
Bro took a second before replying, “Oh! That Jack guy right?”
“Y-Yeah that’s him…” Alt stammered, swallowing thickly. The hero’s voice grows more concerned on the other end. “ Alt…? What’s the matter? Is something wrong?”
“... yeah actually- I uh… I don’t wanna assume the worse but… Jack was supposed to meet me here almost 2 hours ago… and I haven’t heard from him at all… i… I’m worried something happened to him. Can… Can you keep an eye out for him?”
“I don’t know what he looks like dude- how can I…?” Bro replies as he flies into a more secluded part of town- a semi completed construction project site. Cranes lay abandoned for the night and piles of different steels lay waiting to be used the next day. The hero opens his mouth to continue speaking to his brother when a haunting laugh echoes through the area, sending a chill down his spine and cutting the hero off.
“Chase…?” The glitch asks on the other end.
“Oh Fantastic~” An all too familiar and unwelcome voice calls through the clearing. “I think I have something that’ll interest you!”
Bro touches down to the ground and whispers into his mouthpiece, “Alt… stay on the line… I have a bad feeling about this.” Alt lets out a snort of acknowledgement as the hero makes his way towards the laughter, fists at the ready.
As he rounds the corner, he can see Magnificent, giggling madly as he twirls what looks to be a new puppet around in his green glowing strings, making the boy almost dance as he lifts his arms up and down for his own amusement. Watching the glazed lifeless look in his entranced eyes with crazed excitement like the madman he is. But, as Bro gets closer, he slowly starts to realize something.
“Alt-” Chase whispers in horror, “Jack… is he- brunette with a beard- about 6 foot- g-glasses?”
“...he’s here. Mag has him. Wait for my signal- then glitch through my phone, got it?”
Alt seems to protest for a second, but eventually he huffs and agrees, “Alright. Be careful.”
“I’ll try…” Bro whispers back, before cracking his neck and standing up tall as he rounds the corner to face the mad magician.
Magnificent’s eyes blaze green at the sight of the superhero and a wolfish grin spreads across his face. “Ah Mr. Fantastic! Welcome Welcome! Have you met my latest puppet?”
Jack turns his head to regard Chase and his eyes and expression- they send shivers down his spine. His eyes are completely filled with chilling static and his expression is completely blank. Magnificent has the poor lad strung up completely in his strings- wrists, waist, legs, neck- Every movement he makes is decided by the corruption. It’s… odd though- Magnificent has never kept such close control on his puppets before… its almost like he’s trying to keep Jack contained.
“Let him go, Magnificent,” Bro Fantastic growled, curling his fists and eyeing the villain down. But, the cat masked man just threw back his head and laughed.
“I don’t think so, hero! Not this time- this one… no, this one is too special~!”
Bro blinked in confusion, “Jack?”
The dark magician grinned way too wide.
“Oh you don’t know what you stumbled across this time, heroes… what a precious commodity you uncovered for me!” Magnificent leaned down and twisted the strings so Jack’s head tilted to look at him, and the villain cupped his face with his sinister claws almost gently.
“This one… oh this one has more power than I could have ever thought possible… it’s simply delicious~! Especially that my little cub Alt found him first for me~”
Bro could hear Alt bristling in his ear, his mic glitching with his anger on the other end.
“I won’t repeat myself Magnificent, Let him go! He’s not your plaything, no one is!” Bro shouted, his eyes lighting up blue silver with power.
Magnificent doesn’t seem to hear him as he giggles and looks down at Jack, loosening some of his strings and running claws down his neck. “Jack~ Why don’t you show Bro Fantastic exactly what it is you can do?”
Jack’s head snaps to Bro and the hero jerks back. His static eyes bore straight into Chase’s soul, like he’s reading it then two glowing blue eyes appear out of the static and stare him down as Jack lumbers forward and shakily raises a hand out to the superhero.
“Yes, Magnificent,” Jack whispers. His hand starts to glow with crazy green and blue light and the world around Bro and Mag starts to shift- actually bending and warping around them. The lights from nearby streetlamps burst and cast the clearing in complete darkness- leaving only the light of Jack’s magic and the colors of Magnificent’s strings caught around him as they whip up in a new strange wind.
“C-Chase? Chase?! What’s happening?!” Alt’s voice shouts over the mic.
Chase backs up and holds up his hands to the other boy-, “J-Jack, I know you don’t know me but I don’t want to hurt you! I’m a friend of Alt’s! He wants to know if you’re okay!”
There seems to be a flicker in Jack’s magic- and the pressure in the air seems to lessen for a second.
“...A...Alt..?” Jack’s voice is small, but echoing through the strange magic in the air.
“Y-Yes! Yes Alt! He was looking all over for you!”
Magnificent growls and tightens his hold, causing Jack to gasp and wince in pain, his outstretched hand almost completely clenching shut-
“Don’t listen to him, puppet! He knows nothing- he doubts your power! Show him!”
Jack’s eyes flood with the brightest blue CHase has ever seen, almost blinding so as the pressure in the warping air increases once more, sending the hero crashing to his knees with a yell. Wind whips Jack’s hair up in crazy directions as he looks Bro down and now closes his hand completely- and Chase can only read his lips as the world completely warps out of focus for him.
