What's your relationship with spinel
Note: This takes place after a short visit to Earth.
...

Gem: Spinel
Status: Mom
Kith.
Just two wives chillin on earth and enjoying jumpin in puddles.
Yellow gaining some confidence and dancing with her wife (who is quite flustered).
...
Blue: Woah. How’d you learn to dance?
Yellow: I guess when you imagine something so often it just becomes natural.
Blue: ...
Yellow: ...
Yellow: I’ve said too much.
Some doodly doodles.
I’ve been tired. School has been better it’s just hecka draining so expect more traditional stuff probably until I get into the school rythym or until my computer gets fixed.
(No I don’t draw digitally on my computer, I use my phone... but I use YouTube as background noise and I just really like having my computer. It being gone messes up my personal schedule and my way of doing crap so now I’m all mixed up. It sucks. :( )
Anyways I been lovin the end of an era concept art! I’m very excited for what’s to come!
Doodles.
Swapped!- Star Song to Nightfall
Blue stared blankly into the hearth, absentmindedly running her fingers through Yellow’s golden-orange locks. She was content, and she hoped the gem whose head was lying on her lap was also.
Blue listened to the rhythmic sound of Yellow’s calm breathing and concluded that she too, was in fact content. Good. With that piece of information now revealed to her, Blue felt that she could truly allow herself to relax. She hummed an ancient gem song to herself as she watched the flames lapping at the coals in an eternal glowing dance. Entranced by the flames and her hypnotic state of calmness, her humming evolved into an actual song.
The words were entirely in ancient gem, a language modern gems very rarely used. The song used to be very common and well known, but it was much less so now. It spoke of common and ancient lore that stated that each gem was drawn to a certain star in the sky, and supposedly their soulmate would be drawn to the same star. It had been made up by some hopeless romantic gems way back in Era 1, and White had always hated it. She had said that the song encouraged cross-gem fusion. Blue loved the song and believed in the silly myth, she had always felt guilty for doing so.
“Your voice is lovely.” came a hushed voice.
Blue jumped slightly, having forgotten that Yellow was there, “Thank you.”
“I’ve never heard you sing quite like that.” Yellow continued, her voice was different then it had been, it was softer, smoother, there was less rust to it then there had been, “Do you like that song?”
“Oh uh… no. I’ve always found it quite silly…” she replied.
“Hm… that’s a shame.” Yellow sighed, “I’ve always enjoyed it.”
“You… have?”
“Yes. In fact,” Yellow sat up slightly, “I’ve always felt attached to that cluster of stars there.”
She pointed to a collection of stars just above the horizon, “That star in the center… that one’s mine.”
Yellow laid her head back down onto Blue’s lap, and was quiet again. It was as if she were waiting for Blue’s inevitable confession.
“I always loved that song, but when White-...” Blue stopped and sighed, “I felt ashamed for believing its words. Or even wanting to hear it again.”
Yellow didn’t say anything in return and though Blue could only see the back of her head, she knew she was smiling.
“I always wondered which part of the sky was mine. Which star would call my name. But I never felt drawn to any of them…”
“Well how about now? Where do you feel drawn to?” Yellow’s voice was stronger than it had been in a long while, it was merely a whisper, yet her confidence was apparent.
The question reverberated around in her mind.
Where do you feel drawn to?
She looked around the sky that was visible to her… she still wasn’t sure. Instead she found herself looking back to the mass of stars Yellow had already shown her.
“Well it’s too late now… I want to share your star.” Blue replied, breaking the long silence, “.... I’m already biased.”
Yellow laughed, a warm sound that would glow if it were possible, “Well then let’s test that theory.”
“Wait... Really?” The blue gem’s voice was kind, but surprised at the notion.
“Of course.” Yellow stood up and summoned a piece of white cloth from her gem, “Put this over your eyes.”
“I-... what?” she was dumbfounded.
“No questions.”
Yellow took Blue by the hand and led her blindly around the room and was careful not to let even the slightest hint slip of where she was. After an eternity of this, Yellow stopped at a fixed point in the room and led her in tight circles for a few more moments. When she finally stopped she took both of Blue’s hands in hers.
“Alright.” her voice was soft, “Let’s find your star.”
Blue heard her dress rustle away, but she soon lost track of where she was. She took a deep breath and turned around hoping she would feel something, anything that would lead her to believe the legend was true. She felt unreasonably stressed. What if they didn’t share the same star. What if she wasn’t meant too. What if all of her nervous era 3 thoughts were true? What if she hadn’t changed? What if she had been terrible this whole time and she was never meant for Yellow? What if-
“Breathe.” she thought to herself, “Breath, you’re fine... Is this how Yellow always feels?”
She shook the panicked thoughts out of her head and resumed her current mission. She turned around in circles for a moment, searching for some sign of feeling. Some tugging at the back of her soul that told her where to go. Just… something.
“Wait! I-... I think I found it!” Blue’s voice raised with excitement.
She sifted through the empty air as she moved over to where she believed her star would be. She took off the cloth that was obstructing her view and came face to face with her star...
“It appears as though my theory was correct,” Yellow smiled, and gave Blue a soft kiss, “You... are biased.”
Blue’s face was more… blue than normal. Both in the fact that her cheeks had flushed into a deep navy color, and that her face crinkled up into a despondent frown.
It was silent for an uncomfortable amount of time. Blue grew increasingly bluer and as she delved in her own thoughts she was unable to see the fear creeping into Yellow’s eyes. Yellow began fiddling with a fold in her dress as she stared at a fixed point, beginning to drown in her own thoughts.
“Did I… Did I do something wrong?” the rust returned to her whispery voice, “I-...I didn’t mean-”
Blue snapped out of her own world at the sound of the fear that had crept its way like ivy back into her star’s voice, “What?” she took in the look on the other gem’s face, “No, no no no no, you did nothing wrong! None of this is your fault. It’s me. This is my fault!” she stumbled over the words in a panic to make things right.
Blue watched Yellow’s face contort with shame as she looked down at the ground, tears beginning to form.
“W-wait, no! Don’t cry! Everything’s fine.” she paused for a moment and asked hesitantly, “Would it be alright if I-... held you? Or-or do you need space right now or-...?”
Blue was very careful nowadays to be more sensitive to Yellow’s condition. She despised herself for being so inconsiderate of her mental state in the past. She did plenty of research and had talked with Yellow about it after Steven had helped incite change… but it didn’t change the past. She had still been that gem: manipulative, desperate, angry, insecure…
Yellow finally lifted her head and nodded. Blue held her in her arms, the light from the hearth bouncing off of them both. The two former matriarchs held each other in the comforting embrace for a moment and then pulled away.
“I’m sorry,” Yellow sniffed, “I just got really scared I messed something up…”
Blue took both of Yellow’s hands in hers, “You didn’t mess anything up, and you don’t have to keep apologizing. I messed up before, I didn’t understand and so I didn’t care. I’m starting to understand now, Yellow, and I’m prepared to help you in any way I can. You don’t need to apologize for a part of you that isn’t in your control.”
“I just kind of always feel like a burden when it comes to that stuff…” she refused to meet Blue’s eyes.
“You aren’t.” the blue gem assured, “You are the furthest thing from one.”
The two stared into each other's face studying each crevice in an attempt to fully understand every emotion. The stars twinkling gracefully above them made their eyes fill with pinpricks of sparkling light.
Being that they were so enthralled with the other, neither had truly realized how they were looking at each other. When they finally did they both shied away awkwardly. It was quiet again for a long time.
“I’m sorry again for-... uh… I mean… I guess I overreacted a bit, huh? I just saw the look on your face and…” Yellow stopped for a moment, debating about what her next sentence would be, “If you don’t mind me asking… What was wrong? You were very clearly upset…”
“I-...” Blue was hesitant to finish, she felt ridiculous, “It’s silly, but… I don’t know... I just kinda wanted the legend to be true. And then I got panicked that if we didn’t share the same star… I just got consumed by my thoughts.”
“I of all gems can understand what that feels like…” the golden gem murmured.
“But I realize something now, Yellow. I don’t need a star a billion light-years away. You’re right here. And you are the brightest star I’ve ever seen.”
