I wrote this at 2am it does not have a title it will never get one:

If I could go back I’d hold you close

I’d hug you tight and wisper sweet nothings in your ear

I’d move the hair you hate to one side

Wrap it round my fingers hold your hand with the other

I wouldn’t say it was ok

I’d let you cry into my neck

Take stained metal away

Replace it with my own hand

We could sit quiet

Basking in a strange familiarity

You could talk or laugh or wail

I’d listen

I’d promise to listen to

But you wouldn’t need to talk

Because I’d already know
