“Growth” by @iamgiagraham for today’s #GoodtypeConstraints #GoodtypeTuesday. • This week we are going to talk about the importance of design constraints. Design constraints can oftentimes be viewed as creative inhibitors. But on the contrary, they can help the creative process by defining the project and allow the designer to focus on the necessities of the design. We feel it is important to identify all constraints at the beginning of a project to avoid any potential tensions and conflicts. The more specific the constraints or needs of the project, the smoother the graphic design process will flow. Your challenge this week is to letter one word with the following constraints: 1. Must be 1 word 2. The word must contain 2 swashes 3. The word must contain at least 1 ligature 4. The word must elicit a positive feeling 5. The word can repeat itself 6. The design must contain a colorful gradient 7. The word or the background may use the gradient In the caption, tell us why you chose that word. Digital or analog is acceptable. The graphic design department in the Institute of Applied Arts has started 10 years ago in Sopron.
