Northwestern Phonathon provides students opportunity to speak with alumni
Northwestern Phonathon serves as a job for many students looking to work, or fulfill a work-study. The job entails calling alumni to update their contact information, and most importantly, to solicit donations, for the university. Students can call up to 300 alumni a night, though will only talk to about 5 to 15 people, depending on the alumni pool they are calling.
Student supervisor of Phonathon, Will Podlewski said they try to keep the atmosphere as on that “engenders comfort”.
“Obviously talking to alumni on the phone is not something that’s especially inside a lot of people’s comfort zones,” Podlewski said. "So we try to keep everything chill and fun so everyone has a good time."
Phonathon is working up to a monetary goal of $1 million for the 2014 fiscal year.
