Star Wars Celebration Europe | Photo Recap Day 3 (final)
Here it is; the final part of our Star Wars Celebration Europe photo recap. It’s the third and final day; if you haven’t already, go back and have a look at our photos from day 1 and day 2.
It was another early start for us today as we wanted to make it into the Future Filmmakers panel on the celebration stage. As you can see from the wristbands above, we not only managed to get into that, we also got into the Carrie Fisher panel too!!
This was the only day that EE could make it so once we got in, we just spent some time soaking up the atmosphere and checking out (and reaquainting ourselves) with some more really impressive cosplayers. These mandalorians looked amazing!
Some amazing fans cosplaying as Hera and grown up Ahsoka from Star Wars Rebel. I have to admit, I don’t really know who the SIth/Dark Jedi is meant to be, however, she looked equally awesome!
That predator Boba from day 2 was back and fighting a Sith Jason X (it’s not often you get to type a sentence like that!).
Soon enough, it was time to go queue for and eventually get into the Carrie Fisher Princess Diaries panel. It was hosted by Warwick Davis which was pretty cool.
As a celebration of princesses, everybody who was dressed as a female character was brought up on stage. You’d be surprised at how many guys ended up on stage!
These samurai stormtroopers were inspired by the Tamashii Nations toys but just looked great in their own right. Guy in the middle was actually one of those on stage at the Carrie Fisher panel; he does make a very convincing Leia!
Is it just me or does that guy in the middle actually look a little like Ewan McGregor?
Not sure if Darth Maul should be the one looking after these 3 super cute Rey but they seemed to be having fun!
The final part of the day was the Future Filmmakers Panel and the Closing Ceremony back in the Celebration Stage. It was really interesting to hear from Rhian Johnson about Episiode VIII. We were also there for confirmation of what was probably the worst kept secret around Star Wars, that Alden Ehrenreich would play Han Solo in the upcoming Young Han Solo anthology film.
John Boyega turned up as well which was a very cool surprise (I guess being a Londoner, it wasn’t too far for him). There was a great atmosphere to the whole thing but we were disappointed with the number of seats that were originally reserved and then just left empty. Eventually they were filled with people that hadn’t gotten wristbands but were waiting outside. Now, I’m all for getting as many people in as possible but JW and I both felt that letting those that didn’t get there super early to queue up for wristbands end up in better seats than those who did was just a little out of order.
Overall, we had a great 3 days. It was super knackering and we all went through withdrawal during the days after (I was walking around the office wondering why no-one was dressed as a stormtrooper). It was just really amazing to be in the company of so many people with just a passion for the same thing.
JW was thoroughly unimpressed with the organisers ReedPOP whom he felt did their best to screw up the fans with their wristband policies for the Celebration Stage and dodgy organisation and lack of information given out ahead of time, but in the end the Star Wars global family of fans and cosplayers ended up strenghthening his love (which i did not think was possible) for SW.
