As a previous "swear box" in which most of my family members verbally spilled their issues, I come from the perspective of, "We may not agree but I want to know why you think that way." I much prefer that over, "My way only! There is nothing to be learned from your way!" Etc etc further screaming and gnashing of teeth ensuing from that. Things aren't as black and white as we'd like them to be, and there is almost always something to learn from the other side, some gem of truth or knowledge. They may still be black or white, but nothing is ever really a solid color--more like a dappled gray.
