Tricks of the Trade

I'm back in San Francisco and finally recovered from a successful and overly exhausting, week long buying trip in Florida. My dad has been in the vintage business for more than 25 years and dedicated the entire week to teaching me the tricks of the trade. In a nutshell, I learned you win some & you lose some. Sometimes old ladies shake necklaces in your face and tell you they would never offer someone that low of a price. Other times old ladies love that you think their stuff is cool. Every day is a chase and you never know what you're going to get, and some days you come home empty handed. Exciting, yes. Glamorous, no. For 6 days straight, I was up at 4 am driving the entire state of Florida scouring spark. In total, we traveled 1,500 miles, drank double gas station coffees a day & sang Christmas carols. I didn't know what to expect on this trip but I'm happy to admit it was way better than I expected and I have lots of amazing spark to prove it! The best way to stay tuned is by liking our page on facebook. We'll continue to stick true to offering timeless staples (bangles, studs, chains, pendants) but we're also going to start mimicking current trends as well as test brooches and clip-on earrings. I changed my mind about offering clip-ons when I saw how many cool pairs are out there. In America, piercing your ears didn't become acceptable until the 60s and it wasn't mainstream until the 70s & 80s.
