One day the devil sat bored at his throne. This happenedfrom time to time. Usually he would cure this by torturing his subjects or taking a few succubus to bed with him, but none of that seemed appealing to him. He decided to go to Earth. He did not know why he thought it would prove to be more entertaining. He hated humans. He thought of them as no more than rats. A source of power was their only worth. He put on his human guise, stepped though the portal, shoved his hands into his pockets and began walking though the city looking for some entertainment. He was no low ranking devil so he would not bother just anyone. He was looking for someone or something special to harass.

After several hours, he came across a Catholic Church. He stopped and stared at it. Churches never bothered him. These days there was never enough faith to keep out a lower demon let alone the King of Hell. However, something about this church drew the devil’s attention. He could actually feel some faith. It was not enough to drive him away, but it was enough to draw his attention. He wanted to know what the source of this power and faith was. He then decided to pay the church a visit.

Alfred intended to walk inside when he noticed a priest watering some roses that grew along the side of the church. Alfred approached the man grooming the plants and smiled at him.

“Hello there;” The devil gave a beautiful smile. “I am new in the area and was checking out the different churches. I hope I am not bothering you.” He motioned to all of the roses. “They sure are lovely.”
