Piercing Problems || [Spencer Reid x Reader]
A/N: I am back again with a oneshot inspired by a message @dreampissybaby sent me. The idea of having reader be scared to get her ears pierced. I changed a bit of the prompt to fit the idea I got from it but still hope you like it.

You have been wanting to get your ears pierced for a while. Seeing your coworkers adorn their body with tiny glinting pieces of jewelry was turning you to this decision to get your ears pierced. Every day while working at the coffee shop you saw customers with different jewelry in their lobes. Your best friend showed you a pair of earrings shaped like little coffee cups that were absolutely adorable. Spencer, your boyfriend of a few months, had taken it upon himself to research the best piercing shop in the city when you told him your plan to get your ears pierced. Only wanting the best for you. He’d picked out a place. Even though you wanted to get your ears pierced, you were hesitant to say the least.
There was one problem. A fear of needles. That’s why the appointment wasn’t made yet. Or so you thought. It was a Wednesday afternoon, you had taken the opening shift that day to spend time with Spencer after work. The mingled smells of coffee, tea, and baked goods filling the air with warmth. You were just placing a new pastry in the display case as you heard the soft jingle of the bell, signaling a new customer. The boyfriend in question had just entered the shop with a smile on his face. You watched him walk up to the counter, towards you at the cash register. “What can I get you?” You asked, acting like he had been an old customer. “two cappuccinos to go. And my girlfriend along with that.” He answered as he rested his hand on the strap of his leather bag, adjusting it slightly as he leaned forward. A slight blush covered his face, like it always did whenever he called you his girlfriend, or his in general. “Coming right up.” You answered, leaning over the counter, unable to resist giving him a quick peck on the lips. Once you finished up the coffees you took off your apron, bidding goodbye to your coworkers and friends before stepping away from the counter. Two to go cups in hand you made your way over to Spencer, who was sitting comfortably in one of the chairs. You watched him nervously fiddle with his hands for a moment before deciding to walk up. “Here you go.” You said, handing him the cup before he stood up. “Thanks. I, eh, I have something for you.” He responded as he took the cup with his left hand, before using his right to fish around in that leather bag of his. He pulled out a small box, neatly wrapped with a layer of dark blue gift wrapping and a silver ribbon tied in a bow. “What’s the occasion?” You asked, knowing you didn’t forget a special anniversary, or even your own birthday. “I just saw it and wanted to get it for you. Open it.” Spencer urged as he slightly leaned forward and backwards on his feet, he was nervous to see your reaction.
You pulled on the bow, unraveling it before gently unwrapping the paper. It was a small jewelry box, not big enough for a bracelet or a necklace, perhaps big enough for a ring. You looked up at Spencer, trying to gauge his reaction, you’d thought it was too soon for a proposal, he didn’t seem nervous enough for it to be one anyways. You lifted the lid from the box gently to see two small, silver coffee cups on some foam. The earrings you had told him about. “Spencer… Thank you. This is so sweet, but I can’t wear them.” You said softly, slightly disappointed in yourself that you hadn’t gotten your ears pierced yet. “Yeah you can, we are going to get your ears pierced today.” He said with a smile. He might have seen the panic cross your face as he quickly grabbed your hand, taking the lid and closing the jewelry box. “I’ll be with you. I’ll hold your hand. Nothing bad is going to happen. And if it does hurt you can squeeze as hard as you want.” He said softly, dark amber eyes looking deeply into yours. He kissed your cheek, the action working to soothe your nerves slightly. “Alright?” He asked. “Alright.” You responded.
He took you to the piercing shop, a woman covered in tattoos and piercings welcoming you and directing you to a sterile room. She had a friendly smile, doing her best to comfort you as she explained what was going to happen. Spencer had probably told her about your fear of needles. She showed all her tools except for the needle, the clamps, the marker, even the cotton pad that would sterilize the area. Spencer sat next to you the entire time, holding your hand, his thumb soothingly stroking the back of yours. “What you’ll feel is a slight pinch, like this…” She said as she gently pinched one of your lobes, showing what it would feel like. “I heard you have your own jewelry that you’d like to use.” She said and you nodded your head. “Yeah, these.” You said and held out the small jewelry box. “Alright, I’ll go and sterilize them before I put them in.” The woman said, taking the small box and then taking out the jewelry. She made quick work of cleaning them before she instructed you to sit on the plastic covered bench. Spencer sat on a little stool next to you, never once letting go of your hand. The woman marked your ears, checking the symmetry before getting the clamp on your left ear. “Take a deep breath for me” She said and you did as you were told, closing your eyes as you breathed in and out. There was a slight pinch, causing you to squeeze Spencer’s hand. Her hands were on your ear for a small moment. The clamp released. “That’s one.” She said and you blinked your eyes open. It didn’t hurt as much as you expected, not even as much as it had when she pinched your ear. You looked at Spencer who gave you a soft smile, “Not that bad?” He asked. “Not at all…” you said half surprised. “I told you. Turn your head for me.” The woman said and you did, looking away from Spencer who still held your hand. She went through the same motions, and in a few seconds you were done.
She handed you a mirror. You smiled at your reflection, the little silver coffee cups in your ears were simply adorable. This was, maybe, the best decision you have made. Or rather, was made for you. “Show me.” Spencer said and you dropped your hand holding the mirror, facing Spencer head on. “Absolutely gorgeous.” He said softly before gently pressing his lips to yours in one of the softest kisses he’s ever given you. “Thank you for taking me.” You whispered against his lips before he pulled away.
The woman gave you some instructions to take care and clean your new piercings, giving you a small bag with a sensitive skin soap and some tea tree oil before you went on your way home. Smile plastered on your face, happy with your new earrings but even happier with the best boyfriend out there.
