gooeykit how do you feel about transmasc Olivia and transfem Butch Axel from the hit game Minecraft story mode. Am I cooking yay or nay chat

more trans rep is always good rep! Ive seen talk of both of these thrown around and I think it cute and there is a massive under representation in general of Black trans characters AND transfems especially.

honestly I click a lot with Olivia and im technically transmasc sooo... simple to say, i do see it XD though im transmasc in a way where i still call myself a woman and i assume you're taking it full transman-style. Olivia's frustration towards not being taken seriously and frightened by failure and social ousting/disregard could be a driving force to masculinize (thats probably not a word..) in order to climb that social ladder. at least, that was part of my driving force way back in the day.

i see Axel as having a lot of disregard for gender and normativity in general, so y'know, not intimidated by putting on a skirt. he likes to have fun and mocks other people for not letting fun happen. so hey, if he discovers his girly side as being more fun and fulfilling.... he totally would go down that path. that said he probably doesn't care to completely ditch who he was pre-transition either, he's still gonna be rough and tumble with an appreciation for more punk-y culture.

in a case where both of these characters are more comfortable and more confident by any means is a great case, but exploring that through transgenderism is, by all means, a case MOST joyous

i think while you're exploring trans-ness in these characters, to acknowledge and think about any implications you might or could make in doing this. In example: for Olivia; 'what might people think im saying when depicting this Black character as masculine'? or, 'what could I be saying about making this Black character masculine'? for Axel; 'what might people think im saying when depicting this fat transfem as still being butch'? or, 'what could I be saying when maintaining both these characters as still-in-some-way masculine'

not that you shouldnt, in fact i don't WANT to discourage you because thinking about these things is going to be a massive strength on you. setting up the habit of thinking about the implications possible by your depictions and exploring them anyways is going to benefit you a lot with future depictions. if you are ever intimidated by accidentally making a caricature of someone, i keep in mind that those caricatures are based on real people too, and only to handle even those with respect
