House’s addiction
Friendly reminder that House had drug abuse issues before his leg . If you watch “ Three stories” You’ll realize that the patients who was claiming leg pain, and self-injected demerol, was House. The docs wrote him off as johnsing for drugs, twice. That’s because House abused drugs before Vicoden, and before his leg.
It’s actually part of the reason for the time delay in making the diagnosis- not to say that it was his fault. That’s why I think House’s Vicodin abuse is mostly, I’d say three-fourths, psychological. It’s funny, because when I first started watching House I’d have said that it was at least half physical, and was surprised when House’s friends ( Cuddy, Wilson) urged him to stop using Vicoden, because I thought “ Well, isn’t House in pain?”. Now I’ve realized. Most of the Vicoden use is for psychological pain. House seems fine, in S6, when he’s on those massive doses of Ibuprofen for his leg, and we don’t see him start drinking until his personal life becomes an issue ( Like when House realizes that Cuddy wants to be friends with him and is getting serious with Lucas). The alcohol became the way to dull the emotional pain, and when Huddy was a thing, Cuddy was the replacement for the Vicoden. And he didn’t start using it a again until he was scared Cuddy may die.
Actually, House’s leg situation was the worst case scenario of the worst case scenario of the worse case scenario. The worst thing that can happen to an aneurysm is that it clots. The worst thing that can happen after a clot is to tell the patient there isn’t really a problem, refuse to even MRI the damn thing ( this really pisses me off) , and waste time. The worst thing that can happen after wasting all that precious time and leading to tissue death is to not get rid of the affected area ( the last of which was in House’s control, to some degree). “ My name is Gregory House, and my life is complete and utter shit”
This sort of fulfills @sweetmemory221 ‘s request to give my thoughts- I was on vacation then and didn’t wanna mobile-blog so I’m answering now!
