Mecha Anime Recommendation
Lately I have been into Mecha anime so here is a list of the Mecha anime I watched and recommend and don’t recommend based on my personal preference. There’s no particular order to the list. WARNING! Long post.
01. Gundam Seed
Recommendation rating: 3/10
Why? The story is good (+3 points) but I absolutely hate the protagonist, Kira Yamoto (-7 points), because he has no moral and cheat on his friend Sai with Sai’s b*tch. He f*cked Sai’s fiancee/girlfriend behind Sai’s back. I cannot tolerant this! The OST is GREAT though.
02. Gundam Seed Destiny
Recommendation rating: 6/10
Why? +3 Points for Shin and another +3 Points for Athrun, -4 Points for Kira. I still hate Kira and the f*cking annoying thing about Kira in the second season is that he is such a hypocrite. I don’t even understand what kind of fucking ‘peace’ he was fighting for. He’s like a snake with two heads and join both sides of the war. Let me borrow a line from Minashiro Soushi, “as long as to protect means to fight, war will continue to exist.” Like I said, I don’t understand Kira’s hypocritical peace. For example, Kira would be fighting for country A and the next minute he jumps to Country B and back to A. Like I said, snake with two heads going whichever way = hypocrite.
03. Gundam AGE
Recommendation rating: 6.5/10
Why? I stopped at episode 12 so I only rate it up to the episode I watched. This show is not boring but also not exciting at all and the characters look so small like they are only 8 or 10 years old and the love story between these little kids seem too complicated for their age??
04. Code Geass
Recommendation rating: 10/10
Why? +8 points for the story, -10 points for Suzaku, and +12 points for Lelouch so the total is 10/10 points. The story is great except for the fact that there are too many boobies so -2 points for that. Suzaku is an asshole who jump from A to B to C and such a hypocrite but Lelouch is awesome cool so I love him. Warning though, the protagonist dies at the end so be alert on the #tragedy tag.
05. Soukyuu no Fafner
Recommendation rating: 10/10 (still airing)
Why? I could have easily give Fafner a 100/10 because I love everything about it, especially Kazuki & Soushi relationship. If you are a fujoshi who like action anime then this is the only mecha anime for you. It’s great and the plot is well written too. I don’t know why people compare Fafner to Gundam just because the characters are designed by the same person but Fafner is totally different from Gundam and the plot/characters development are so much better to me. As a side note, this anime is under the tag #tragedy too. By the way, the correct way to watch Fafer is: Soukyuu no Fafner: Right of Left (OVA), Soukyuu no Fafner: Dead Aggressor (Season 1), Soukyuu no Fafer: Heaven and Earth (movie), Soukyuu no Fafner: Exodus, and Soukyuu no Fafner: Exodus Cour 2 (not yet air). The OSTs are so so so good.
06. Sidonia no Kishi
Recommendation rating: 7.5/10 (still airing)
Why? The story is good (+5 points) and the protagonist Tanikaze is not bad but the idea itself kind of remind me of Fafner (I may be biased on this though). For example, Sidonia reminds me of Tatsumiya Island; like how it is the main battleship. +2.5 points for Tanikaze relationship with all the other characters. -2.5 points for the assimilation idea of just ONE character, Hoshijiro. It’s kind of stupid to make Hoshijiro’s clones come back multiple times. However, if you like fan services of sexualizing female body parts then this may be the anime for you. There are A LOT of bobbies and vaginas shots flashing in almost every other episode and all the girls only have Size E cup or above for their boobies; no size A-D cup. I’m pretty sure this anime targets male because of the way they sexualized female body parts.
07. Heoric Age
Recommendation rating: 8/10
Why? The story and character designed including the animation studio is the same as Fafner so the OST are awesome! However, this story is meant for kids from 8-14 years old so it can get corny sometimes for us adults. For example, the princess’s power is kind of corny like how she’s always saying ‘I can sense it; it’s this way’. You’ll know what I mean when you watch the anime. The good thing is there is little romance (implied romance) because it is a show meant for kids.
08. Kakumeiki Valvrave
Recommendation rating: 0/10
Why? Yeah, I can’t rate this anime because I only watched 15 minutes of episode 1. Episode 1 is typical of any mecha anime where a war between two countries break out and the protagonist found himself piloting a robot. Let me tell you, after episode 1 I kind of had this horrible feeling about the protagonist Haruto so I did some research and found out that he became a rapist later on. Yes, Haruto (main protagonist) raped a girl and may have impregnated that girl (according to a blog review I read). What’s worst? Apparently the rape scene was so graphic it traumatized some fans; and worst yet, he doesn’t even love that girl he raped. What can I call him but a rapist? Don’t get me wrong, I love evil protagonist like Lelouch (Code Geass) and Light Yagami (Death Note) but no raping even if he was possessed by lust like Haruto.
09. Gundam Build Fighters
Recommendation rating: 7/10
Why? The story revolves around two boys who try to win a tournament by building the best gundam model. The OSTs are great. This story is meant for kids so if you are expecting a series, deep plot about war mecha anime then don’t watch this anime. I didn’t finish this anime though so I only rate it up to where I stopped watching, which is episode 15 (I think).
I can't believe Ichigo is taking Chad and Orihime to battle with him (ch.589) because he usually leave them behind when he battle the big boss. Usually, Orihime would be left behind alone to heal the injured. I'm hoping that Orihime get some actions and cannot wait to see her new abilities since her weapon (hairpins) got bigger, if you notice. I can't wait for the confrontation of the 4 friends: Ichigo, Ishida, Chad, & Orihime. What do you think?
I'm really, really excited for this final battle myself! I have such high hopes for it, and how Chad and Orihime will play a role in it. Kubo's kept them safely on the sidelines for years, having them struggle with feelings of inadequacy of being a hindrance to Ichigo. What's more, Chad and Orihime both understand the feeling of wanting to protect Ichigo, and the feeling of uselessness. They've trained together for the time Ichigo didn't have his powers, and then some beyond that.
We never got to see the full extent of Chad's powers during the Fullbringer arc, and given that he's been training relentlessly ever since, I'd bet he has a few new abilities and much more deadly power in his arsenal. Orihime, on the other hand, still hasn't had the nature of her abilities confirmed. And while a lot of detractors were going on about how "she has no more significance to the plot", I find it sort of deliciously ironic that she is now heading to the final decisive battle in the Royal Realm alongside Ichigo and Chad.
I definitely think her powers have increased exponentially, and that she likely also has two new abilities as well (at the very least). Given that she has four that we know of, and that her hairpins have six petals, I'm anticipating at least two more new abilities from her. And I certainly think that the nature of her powers will come to light in the Royal Realm. Questions like "Why was Yhwach so well-informed about her abilities?" and "Is she one of the Special War Potentials?" will definitely be answered, and I'm so pumped for it!
The confrontation is definitely going to be heartbreaking, but this arc began with the KT Kids and it's going to end with them too. AHH I JUST CAN'T ARTICULATE IT ENOUGH IM SO EXCITED ABOUT CHAD AND ORIHIME STEPPING INTO BATTLE. THE POTENTIAL FOR MORE ICHIHIME MOMENTS, AND THIS NEXT BATTLE LIKE!! WOW IT'S REALLY EXCITING!!
MANGA: Shingeki no Kyoujin!
TITLE: Shingeki no kyojin (Advancing of the Giant)/ Attack on Titan

RATING: 12/10 **Way beyond my expectation!
I was introduced to this manga by Gama-Chan about one week ago and I just have to post my own thought on this manga because it is so wonderful and full of action, heart-thumping scenes, mystery and suspense as well as amazing characters development.
My Impression: ----------------------------------
A great manga focusing on an older era where human is being devoured by Titans. All the actions scene are well thought out and exciting! The suspense just got even better by chapter 35 and amazing arts (consider it is the author debut first work). This is one manga where it is compare to most amazing Shounen JUMP story like Naruto, Bleach, One Piece and so forth. Lately, Shounen JUMP has been getting worst and worst with their love story and romance rather than exciting action so I was so disappointing that all the good Shounen JUMP stories are coming to an end and I couldn't find any good manga until I found this manga. Definitely give this manga a try. WARNING! This manga contains gore but no nudity so that's great because some people were comparing this manga to Gantz and Gantz is all about gore, nudity and SEX! In addition, this manga is a little confusing for undeveloped brain to comprehend and I have heard of such comments such as this manga is horrible because they claim it's gags. IT IS NOT GAG! The author did a lot of time skipping but they all ties together if you keep reading the manga. This manga is for suspense lover and not those looking for romance or just plain action. Like I said, this manga is for the more mature and developed brain to comprehend.
RATING: A+
