Michael stared in open mouthed shock at his dads. The fact that they had not only arranged for him to marry angel, they had gone behind his back to do it. The nephilim growled out a breath and turned his back from his dads. “Michael,” Sam said in a calm voice, “this is to help you. It is going to keep you safe. We just want to keep you alive.” The teenager could almost hear Aziraphale nodding his agreement.

“An arranged marriage?!” he exclaimed, finally letting his anger boil over the surface. Michael paced the room, trying not to destroy things in his wake. He had a tendency to lose control of his powers in fits of anger and he was trying to keep himself under control.

“Samiel will be a good fit for you,” Aziraphale said weakly. “And she will be here soon, so I suggest that you get your anger under control.”

And I love and hate him in equal measure for it. But perhaps that’s not quite true...Perhaps what I hated most was that he could not be saved...” Painted lips parted to release a world-weary sigh. Discoloured eyes shone with a wet sheen, visible from where they’re caught by the light. “What else could I have done apart from falling with him? I couldn’t bear to leave him to his suffering. Alone.” If his voice cracks a little under the weight of his words, he does not seem to care for his composure. Another sigh. He’s deliberate when he leans in to press a kiss to her forehead. Chaste, seemingly sincere, right up until one is led to question just how much of careful angling he has had to do in order for her to feel the release of tears, falling against her cheek. Soft. Cold. An expression of grief and benediction all in one. “Go in peace, angel. There is nothing you can do for us.”
