We continue our Black History Month features of various black musical genres and this episode is all about the Swingtime Record label, which got set up by Los Angeles based record distributer Jack Lauderdale. His label put out some of the early recordings of the pioneers of Jump Blues, R&B, and Gospel, including his discovery of Ray Charles in Seattle! We got a whole slew of great cuts from the likes of Big Joe Turner, Lowell Fulson, Jimmy Witherspoon and more. You will be amazed at how fresh this stuff sounds for music recorded over 70 years ago!
