"Download AU" idea.
Throwing this out into the ether:
An AU where everything's the same except Tenna has the Dark Crystal, which allowed him to go from b/w-> color and do all his wack rule-breaking hijinks to keep the Dreemurr's interest.
Spamton sought out Tenna to find out how he managed to "upgrade" himself, and Tenna wanted to go even further and become a "smart TV" by learning internet features.
Something-something Shit hits the fan, Tenna flees to CyberCity Spamton gets stuck in TV world looking for him, and to keep from petrifying and having everyone not originally from there from doing the same, he signs a contract left behind giving him control of TV world.
From then on the Dreemur TV started only playing commercials and ads disguised as movies, musicals and shows (lots of infomercials too). But they're good-- like, funny and artistic and neat. So for a while the Dreemurrs kept watching it.
Tenna becomes a media player on Noelle's laptop looking for a way to save Spamton from being... er... corrupted? idk. Something like that--whatever sounds like it would kill an email.
Spamton acts like he knows what he's doing in TV World but he's a nervous poser who has no idea what's going on or why anything is the way it is. Its comes across as him actively hiding things or having malicious intentions, but he just legitimately doesn't know what he's doing. He thinks Tenna cheated him out of his life in Cybercity and effectively stole his identity, leaving him to rot in an outdated TV. He's wildly confused between hating TV world and loving it, contributing to a flip-floppy chaotic personality where he easily gets distracted and absorbed in advertising but also very short-tempered and prone to doom rants. He wants you to do really well on the boards and games so you buy all his stuff, but he himself never played them so he barely knows the rules or how to help the player. He's a terrible guide if you follow his advice (Kinda like Alphys in Undertale when you're going through the Core... even though that wasn't her fault, same energy though)
Spamton obsesses over Tenna, framing him as a "Parasite with a freakishly long nose". "It's All smoke, mirrors, and pretty colors!"
At the end of the day Spamton feels trapped like a caged bird, misses his home, misses the other Addisons, and feels thrown away. Part of him is worried for the rest of TV world too, as Tenna left them too. He openly pushes and gets absorbed in the "he abandoned us" narrative to distract from the fact that he was pressuring Tenna for his secret and pushed him to sign a contract that may or may not have something to do with his disappearance. Spamton ultimately doesn't know, but its easier to pretend that he does.
I imagine Spamton would be a better boss than Tenna, but his displaced frustration and bitterness toward Tenna and the world itself (seeing it as an isolated compared to the webscape of Cybercity) drives him to mistreat them more than he realizes, so whether they patch him or not still depends on if you recruit the darkners, whom, together form one braincell on how to actually restore/debug Spamton based on little things they know about him.
Meanwhile In Cybercity, Tenna becomes so clocked in the head that he forgets that he literally meant for Spamton to take over as a failsafe and thinks this was all Spamton's plan to escape his life as an unwantws pest that always gets thrown away.
His failed attempts to contact Spamton only solidify this, and when the path back never reappears and Spamton's nowhere to be seen in CyverCity, Tenna reasons that Spamton planned it all along.
You come across Tenna in a landfill instead of a dumpster.
He's been turned into a felt stick puppet that looks like a greenscreened live action shot. The only way his body can move around without assistance or teleporting is if he leaves his head behind.
Jokes about going "Wherever the algorithm takes me", as he tries to act like he doesn't get attatched and doesn't miss anyone.
He can still shrink and grow its more a reference to being full-screen vice mini-windowed off to the side. Its entirely up to "the veiwer" how big or small he is and sometimes he tricks people into fullscreening him.
I don't know exactly how this works but its a little funny in my head-- like he makes something so difficult to make-out when he's small and they, I dunno click fullscreen, darkner magic.
(He can only maintain an enlarged form for a limited time though)
He relies heavily on the Addisons, earning money when he plays their ads, but he's so desparate that he accepts scraps in exchage for being frequently inturrupted by ads. They think he's looney and weird and very wary of being associated with him but they think he knows where Spamton is. They're just too scared to confront him directly about it.
Tenna wants you to record him onto a vhs tape to put into the Neo Body.
The Neo Body turns him into a winged-ant-entertainment-center hybrid thing. Idk why i'm thinking "like the queen from Ant Bully" but... yuh.
Tenna will turn into a Cane (weapon) or a Shawl (Armor).
The "Onio" room, Spamton nervously denies keeping the onio on purpose. When Tenna appears he acts like there's confidential "company secrets" on the onio and pretends that he's going to properly destroy it before "Some termite steals it"
On the Snowgrave route Tenna abandons his head in Queen's castle, and is headless when you fight him at the fountain.
Tenna sells frayed ties, puns, leftover pie, Chocolate bullets, the Keygen, poison, and edible slime.
Anyways, feel free to use these idea if yall like them (credit would be nice 👉👈) I may or may not do anything with it myself. But fun thought experiment.
and if i switched robin and sunday's roles in penacony... diva order!robin and harmony!sunday... robin who's determined to create the ideal world of rest for her older brother and sunday who wants to find his freedom and peace...
mm...
maybe i should draw that...
