I’ve been working on my Toy Story/Lightyear (2022)/other TS spinoffs combo AU more (aka maladaptive daydreaming in bed and dissociating at work).
I saw Toy Story 5 and was mad as hell but my Woody-in-a-poncho dream came true and that’s about it. Also old men/toys being cute
I think I’ve watched every single one of these movies over 1000 times in my life, even more so that I have a baby brother who likes Toy Story too (larp). Anyways I don’t know what’s wrong with me but trust there will be more art soon (lie)
First of all, I want to say that I'm absolutely loving your fanfic (both the comic/drawings and the written story), I can't wait to see more!
But I'm curious about something regarding your AU... you've already shown us how Woody felt about the pig and about hearing that Jessie was engaged to Buzz... but how did he react when Buzz asked him to be his best man? Or does this scene not exist in your story?

Well, well, well — hello there, my little angst lover, I’ve got something for you😈
(pls don’t worry, it’s not from my comic or fic, just a simple snippet inspired by this ask)
The cowboy peeked out from under the bed, thoughtfully watching the girl. The guys were taken away, Jessie and Bullseye were missing, Bonnie was upset and completely at the mercy of the device… Yeah, they had a lot on their plate. Still, Woody wanted to use this quiet moment — just the two of them — to tell Buzz everything. They hadn't actually seen each other in almost half a year, and the last time they met, they'd had a pretty serious fight about Woody not wanting to come back, and Buzz being tired of the ‘long-distance’ relationship.
Of course, the former sheriff didn’t feel like he could go back — not after all this time, broken and worn down like this. Their child didn’t want him before, so why would that change now? But things had taken a rather unexpected turn, as he'd learned a few months later. He have to go back now to be safe. Woody glanced briefly at his rounded body and quietly retreated back under the bed:
"Listen, Buzz, while we're alone, I wanted to tell you..."
But the space ranger didn't seem to be listening. He was kneeling on one knee, staring intently at a purple suitcase. Oh, he must be really worried about Jessie, Woody thought sympathetically. Knowing him, he's probably blaming himself for letting them go alone. He placed a hand on his beloved's shoulder to get his attention.
"Don't worry, Buzz. We're gonna find her," the cowboy said with an encouraging smile. "I promise."
The newly appointed deputy gave a faint smile in return and let out a heavy sigh.
"Yeah… Listen —"
"There's something—" Woody was incredibly nervous so he was eager to share the news, but after accidentally interrupting, he immediately felt guilty. "Sorry, sorry! You go first."
Buzz chuckled softly and, not bothering to argue, leaned in slightly. The cowboy's heart skipped a beat — oh, he'd really missed that smile.
"Woody, I know this is just pretend ceremony, and Bonnie usually decides these things, but, um… Well, if it were up to me, you'd be my best man."
…
"What…"
Best man? As in, for a wedding? With Jessie?? So… that joke about the fiancé wasn't… No. They couldn't have gotten back together that fast, could they? Last time their 'relationship' didn't even last two weeks! They wouldn't just— It felt like something sharp pierced through Woody. He pressed a hand to his chest, desperately trying to keep himself from hyperventilating. He frowned in disbelief, dropping his gaze blankly. They had a fight less than six months ago, and now Buzz and Jessie were already engaged?!
Woody's hand unconsciously drifted a little lower, resting on his still slightly protruding belly. How could he possibly tell him about something like this now?! The last time they'd met, they hadn't even broken up — they'd just argued, like always! The cowboy had tried to explain that he couldn't come back, that there was no place for him in Bonnie's house, but that they could still be together, that they were still a family, and Buzz… Oh. Apparently, Buzz had actually been trying to say he wanted to break up.
Or rather — he'd dumped him.
For Jessie.
"Woody?" the space ranger tilted his head, trying to catch his eye.
"Hm?" the cowboy mumbled absently, still unable to process what was happening.
So all those hugs and words about how much they missed each other were just… ‘friendly’? That's why Buzz had been so hostile toward him? Afraid his ex-boyfriend would ruin his wedding to his ex-girlfriend?
"So? What do you say?"
"No." Woody finally met his ‘friend's’ gaze with cold eyes. No, he wouldn't tell him anything. Not today. Not ever.
"No?" Buzz echoed, bewildered — as if, for fuck’s sake, he was actually surprised by that response!
"Oh, I really don't think I need to explain why that's a bad idea," the cowboy spat venomously. "But congratulations — I hope you’ll make Jessie happy. Now let's focus on saving your fiancé."
Somehow, Buzz had the sense not to say anything — or maybe he just didn't know what to say. Woody turned away, desperately trying to focus his thoughts on the Lily problem, but thinking was hard: something was twisting inside him, a lump was stuck in his throat, his chest felt tight, and — even though it shouldn't be possible — he felt terribly sick. Like he was about to throw up.
Im gonna draw something where Woody gets a distress call about a toy that needs to escape from storage and it ends up being a rare woody doll that has also been autioned off
He's neurotic and desperate to escape so he isnt trapped in a display box forever and when Woody, bo, buzz and Jessie go to meet him he is all over Buzz and cant stop fawning over how cool he is
Buzz is flattered at first and then realizes how weird it is and begs the others to not take this mission up just for Jessie to scold him and say that what if they left her behind all those years ago.
Woody and Bo are cackling the entire time and Woody says "would you rather this one push you out of a window too"
And Buzz eventually caves in and let's the other Woody join them so they can find him a kid

The way I just discovered prideyear and I was so getting ready to draw some cute ship art but I just saw how badly they get treated on every platform and catching strays left and right.
