About the sorting things, some themes allow for a special home page where you could like group posts by categories (ie Rebels, tcw, movies, etc) they would still be sorted by date but people would get a larger view of the available content? Idk if that’s what you’re looking for?
I’ve played around with a couple different themes in the past, but one reason I’m hesitant to switch themes right now is that the one I’m using currently was not free, hahaha. The tough part is that at the end of the day, while I can group posts by category (which is what I’m basically doing with the top menu bar drop-downs), the resulting listing of posts are still always going to be ordered from most-recent to oldest.
It also drives me mildly insane that the “related posts” squares at the bottom of the entries can’t be manipulated so that, say, if I’m reading Part 1 of something, Part 2 automatically shows up as a related post. (I believe it uses the tags to determine what it thinks should be in there, not post date or title, etc.) Since so many of my posts use the same tags for humor reasons -- a full 26 entries are tagged “Obi-Wan Loves Anakin”, for example, hahahaha -- this is not a great way to find a “related” post.
Ultimately what I’d really like is to move the site from wordpress.com to wordpress.org, and self-host so that I can use more of the Wordpress plugins and customize things a lot more. (I am very technically-savvy, so I also kind of just want to do it because I’m a nerd and I think it’d be fun to mess around with.) There are WP plugins that provide some of the sorting stuff I’m looking for (as well as a bunch of other useful things,) but I can’t use those plugins with WP.com.
Unfortunately, that would all require time, and then I’d also have to pay for site hosting. Maybe someday...
