So for almost 2 years I was asking my doctor for birth control.
I would bring it up every visit, and he would hit me with excuse after excuse. First was my weight,he wanted me to see a specialist. Then my diabetes. He put me on meds and I lost around 20lbs. Then my depression, when I gained it all back and he wanted me to see a specialist Again. Then he suggested a different specialist for my irregular periods (like doesn't birth control help with that?) at that point I was like "maybe I should talk to someone with a vagina".
So I went to a lady doc in the same building. One visit and I got my birth control and found out that I might have PCOS but something was producing extra testosterone in my body which would explain my irregular periods,my chin hair etc.
She was very warm and explained everything very well to me,shared personal experiences and even drew me a diagram of what was happening in my body. Took all my concerns into consideration and got me on the right track.
My only regret is waiting so long to be fed up with my first doc.
If your doctor is anything like my doctor was, I I urge you to consider switching.
Im lucky that it wasn't anything urgent being ignored.
