Chicago... what really happened

I have a bunch of thoughts jumbling in my head.  I want to share my thoughts on Budapest, the cute little stories that I can recall.... but then my head is full of so many things right now.

I've had a really stressful month, and I can't complain about it because it's been a blessing, too.  On Thanksgiving Day, I received a call telling me my mom was hospitalized.  I had wanted to visit my parents during Thanksgiving with Tashi, but it was impossible to sync up dates, and the cost was nuts, and I didn't book it early enough to use miles.  Anyway, I flew to Chicago Dec 2- Dec 11.  So, yes, before I left, I had to run around the house and decorate it for Christmas.  I got everything ready except the tree.  We didn't have time to go to the tree farm, so I left Eric with the responsibility of picking out that "perfect" tree (Tashi and Eric picked out a great tree).

So, I stayed in Chicago, driving my parents to their various doctor appointments.  My dad is getting a knee replacement 1/7, so I stuck around until 12/11 for his stress test.  My mom was really worried about it and I'm very thankful I stayed for it.  He did good.

I never imagined the day would come where I felt like I was the caretaker of my parents.  I'm too far to be a caretaker, but when I'm in Chicago, I find myself buttoning their coats, helping with shoes, etc.  How the tables have changed, yet I'm lucky I have them here.

I did sneak out from the house and did some touristy things, like go to the Musuem of Science (Christmas around the world!), shopping at Water Tower, Mag Mile, even shopping at Gurnee Mills.

Before I forget, I felt great that Tammy and Dede were able to go to the Museum with me.  We honestly don't do things together and it was special.

Thankful that Eric worked magic with the tickets and the he held down the fort so I can help my folks.
