Forgotten by Pete Rowbottom, Wigan, UK Via Flickr: Explore #35 30/03/20 I think this has to be one of my favourite locations that we visited on the recent trip to Skye, tucked out of the way and out of sight from pretty much everywhere lies this charachterful old ruin, surrounded by lots of equally interesting limestone pavement. The weather had been (as often is the case on Skye) extremely changeable with squalls of snow, rain, sleet, and hailstones occuring very frequently, however the light on this day had to be seen to be beleived, gorgeous warm breaks lighting up the landscape and really transforming the scene from drab and flat to a real golden beauty in a matter of seconds. It was just a case of setting up, waiting, getting wet, and being ready for when the light washed over this beautful part of the landscape, truly a day to remember. ================================================= Lots more images from this shoot, and others, on my website here - updating regularly =================================================
Swordale by Pete Rowbottom, Wigan, UK Via Flickr: The first shot I've posted from a recent trip to Scotland, and the very first drone image I've posted to Flickr. This shot was a total case of being in the right place at the right time, the majority of the group had headed out early to try for a sunrise but with the condtions not looking great 2 of us decided to stay behind and catch up on a bit of sleep. I opened the curtains this morning to find a massive rainbow kicking off outside so I rushed around to grab the camera but it had soo vanished, howver over the next hoiur we were treated to another 5 or 6 full rainbows along with passing storms which created some incredible dramatic lighting, this one being my favourite with the manacing sky and little patch of light moving across the land amongst the dark gloom of the overhead storm. So as much as I'd like to say this shot was the result of some hardcore weather watching and a trek up a mountain, it was actually the result of having a lazy lie in! not often you can say that.... The drone was getting wet and blown about all over the place here but I can't fault it, it did a sterling job. You can see the tail end of the storm hitting Broadford to the rear. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My website has recently been fully refurbished, and can be found by clicking below.
