{ Currently I’m gonna have to go with “Drugs” by Eden.

A friend of mine was reading a Jacen/Tenel Ka fic I had written and messaged me saying she had made the mistake of reading it while listening to this song. She linked me to it, I listened to it and after that it was over and this thing was on repeat nonstop. XDDD

And now I use it to get into angsty Downward Spiral Jacen Solo mode, so bless said friend who originally shared it w/ me. (•̀ᴗ•́)و ̑̑ }

It was getting harder and harder to make supply runs these days. She had acquired less conspicious ships, but the constant need for maintenance on her older ships was starting to take its toll. Rare parts meant travelling and bartering with all sorts in all kinds of places.

Perhaps it was time to retire, she mused, glancing down at her drink.

Movement at the corner of her vison alerted her to the sudden addition to the seat across the table from her. Maven closed her eyes a moment, then picked up her glass and downed the rest of its contents before looking at her new company.

"Jaina Solo, why am I not surprised?"

“I know that!” She groans, chewing hard on her bottom lip as soon as the words have escaped her. The reminder wasn’t needed. As a Jedi, people were almost always counting on her to make the right choice. As a daughter to Han and Leia Solo, people were always counting on her to save the galaxy. This situation wasn’t much different. “I just don’t know how else to give them what the want! Between the two of us we can only do so much.”

“My dear granddaughter, if these kinds of things were easy, we wouldn’t be needed,” Padmé pointed out kindly, sitting next to Jaina, as much as she could in her non-corporeal form. “But sometimes, it’s not about giving people what they want, so much as what they need. That’s the reason I didn’t allow the Constitution of Naboo to be altered to give me a third term as Queen. You need to do what you know is right, not what’s going to be easy, or make people think they’re happy.”

         leia grimaced. jaina had always had that way of purposeful misunderstanding about her -- or maybe it was just a naiveté she’d never been fortunate enough to have. she supposed she should be happy about it; she had done everything in her power to make sure that her children got the childhood they deserved, which included trying to shelter them from all the evils that leia herself had been exposed to at a young age.

         it seemed like the strategy only worked one third of the time, but, then again, leia had never declared herself the galaxy’s best mother, and even now, she refused to swallow her own pride.

        “you’re just like your father,” she said, half a snarl, half a praise, before thinking enough to bite her tongue.
