Friday, Oct. 28, 2011 -- Mum Day
The Juniors win their first dress-up category, with a whopping 99% of students wearing black for Mum Day.
The Freshmen win Penny War, with a total of 4,646. Although the sophomores collected the most pennies (32,352), the total amount of nickels, dimes, and dollars brought their total to -31,123. The juniors got second place with -14,827, and seniors were last with -32,441. 200 points were rewarded for 1st place, and 175, 150, and 100, for 2nd, 3rd, and last, respectively.
The totals for the promo videos, or trailers, were announced. Out of 220 points, Seniors received 209, juniors with 197, sophomores with 193, and freshmen with 187.
Juniors won the poster competition, with 96.5, followed by seniors, sophomores, and freshmen, in that order.
ASB started the rally with a cowboy-themed video, followed by a small skit, finally releasing everyone's voices.
As the John Swett cowboys leave the scene, Ming Chung takes Krissy Segismundo by surprise and asks her to homecoming.
Rally squad killed the opening performance with their own personalized shirts and socks, with little error. As a token of appreciation, the varsity football team appeared with white roses.
As an additional surprise, "loved ones" of certain senior football players gave red roses to girls of their choosing. My personal favorite was Brandon Villiados giving his red rose to his mother. Also, Ming gave Krissy his rose, then took it back. What a douche.
Games followed directly after a quick spirit check, including tug-o-war and two coaches from each sport competing against each other.
Moderators from each class came down to the floor to participate in a game of musical chairs. Contestants included Mr. Fernandez, Mr. Rodriguez, Mr. Hannon, Mr. Henriquez, Mr. Wilder, Mr. Zegura, Mr. Shelley, and Ms. Teekell. Representing the seniors, Ms. Teekell won, urging the seniors to run up and surround her, which caused a mini mosh pit.
The faculty & staff took over the show with a Paranormal Activity-themed video shown on the projector, starring Ms. McGowan and Mr. Shelley, and featuring teachers such as Mr. Rangchi, Ms. Dwyer, Ms. Patterson, Shawna Martin, and Nico Mendiola. Mr. Lee and Ms. Lek reveal through videochat that Zombies have infiltrated Moreau.
A group of Zombie faculty members emerge from the lobby, led by Ms. Kleczek, reinforcing the rules of being a zombie. Mr. Irons forgets to bring pancakes.
Allies to the Zombie army include musical performances: (with the words of songs changed to fit the theme) It's Tricky (The Theology Boys -- Mr. Rodriguez, Mr. Hannon, & Mr. Fernandez), We Got The Beat (Math Girls -- Ms. Debrauwere, Ms. Medeiros, and Ms. Guidotti), and a rock performance (The Art Girls -- Ms. Thomas & Ms. Safranek/Nelson with Mr. Huddelson).
Mr. Shelley and Ms. McGowan feed the zombies pancakes and Father Moreau (Father Tito) and Brother Andre (Father Bruce) gain help of the St. Clement kids as well as Mr. Lee and Ms. Lek.
As the skit comes to a close, special guest stars Ms. Kyle and Mr. Morneau, retired Moreau veterans return and the students run from the bleachers to greet them.
The week finishes off with one final spirit check.
John Swett loses an embarrassing defeat by the Mariners at the homecoming game. The Juniors' Mariner-Man stands by, assisting the cheerleaders.
Thanks for a great final spirit week, guys.
