Something I love about Star Wars which makes it so vastly different from any other cohesive story I've ever seen or read is the idea that it reads as history.
As someone studying history, it's almost comparable with the different time periods that events are classified into in (at the least European) history. We have eras.
In history (excluding prehistory naturally) there are three major time periods or eras: the medieval era, the early modern era and the modern era.
Star Wars also has three significant time periods. The Prequel Era, the Original Era and the Sequel Era, often classified as other things (below), but it's pretty clear that the time periods in history and in Star Wars can be compared.
(PREQUEL ERA is also known as: The Clone Wars Era, The Rise of the Empire)
(ORIGINAL ERA is also known as: Rebels Era, the Empire Era, the Rebellion Era)
(SEQUEL ERA is also known as: The First Order Era, the Resistance Era.)
I just found this pretty cool because it really shows the extent of SW's lore, most franchises don't have anywhere near this level of history or legacy!
