How did you find your pantheon? You mentioned pop culture and personal rep, did you come up with them??
Hey darling!~
Oh gosh my Pantheon is something i’ve been working with off and on for several years. I had the inspiration come to me when I was a teenager and I went to like a muesum/collection thing and got inspired to associate certain Gemstones with certain royal titles. they were originally going to be for a murder mystery story i was working on but that never got off the ground unfortunately haha.
From there they kind of laid dormant for a while until i began starting to get back into witchcraft and such. I knew i wanted to work with a pantheon but none of them really called out to me much like how my court does. When i decided I wanted to work with them I already had their Stones/Court Titles picked out from my earlier story (a few minor title adjustments were made -a few court members got elevated to higher statuses which they seemed content with so i knew i was on the right track-) From there i began looking into it more and found several links that were really super useful for me when coming up with correspondences and associations for my court because at the time I wasn’t sure if i even wanted to use Pop culture icons or not (or even which ones i’d want to include)
Pop Culture Paganism: An introductionCreating a Pop Culture PantheonThis last one by @thiscrookedcrown really REALLY helped me a lot with breaking down my god/desses into spheres of influences:
Creating your own Pop Culture Pantheon: an Ask
(This is getting long so i’m gunna put the rest under the cut so i don’t kill your dash :’D)
And for me it was very much a learning process in getting to know my court members, but honestly that was my favorite part as i felt like I was getting closer to them through my own personal interpretations. (one of my favorite things that i love about my pantheon is that because they don’t really have set “canon looks” whenever i draw them/Commission others to draw them they show themselves differently so its fun to see their variations <3 Examples of The Pearl Empress)
As for like Specifics, I work with a 12 elements system (which i detail more here) each of my court members has 1-2 Elements that they control (most only have 1 element but there are a couple that have 2 elements that fall under their reign) based on the Elemental association it was easy to figure out what their realm of influence would be over.
For example one of my pop culture deities that i work with is Sailor Moon/ Neo Queen Serenity Aka The Silver Lady. I associated her with the Gemstone/Metal Silver (as referenced from Silver Imperial Crystal (Maboroshi no Ginzuishou) her Manga/Anime) In her Manga/Anime she is the Princess of the Moon so I associate her with the Element of Space. Her Associations came easily as there is so much material to reference and incorporate from her manga/Anime. So if working with a pop culture icon check their lore/story and look for things that you can incorporate!
Here’s a quick blurb/break down of what I associate with herAssociated with:The Stars, Navigation, Darkness, The Moon, HopeOther Names: Serenity, Luna,SeleneSymbols: (Most things found/referenced in the Manga/anime)RabbitsCrescent MoonRhinestonesCompasses Lotus blossomsDressesCatsCrystalsSweetsStar CandyOpalMoonstoneSilver

For the Non Pop culture members i had a kind of over all aesthetic/vibe that each member presented to me which helped in determining Elemental associations and overall spheres of influence. The Gold Knight for example is the God of the Sun and the Master of the Element of Light, because I associate Gold with being bright and radiant like the Sun.I will admit that i did have some trouble with associations for one of my Gods: Lord Ruby. I knew i wanted him to be the Fire Element Master, but i just kept drawing up a blank because i was torn between him being associated with War or not because it felt better to associate War with Princess Rose Quartz (Elemental master of Fate.) As i kept thinking about it i began trying to see how Fire would associate with war and thats when i started getting a vibe of Blacksmithing and Forging/creating weapons. Exploring that i began thinking about how fire has a really strong connection to other Trade skills like glass blowing, wood carving ect) as well as its close ties to Cooking and family. Once I got to that point it felt better for me to not include War in Lord Ruby’s associations and that it would fit better with Princess Rose Quartz instead. So anyways I’m rambling now but that’s pretty much the basics of my thought process for how i created/developed my Pantheon :’D <3 I hope this helped and inspires you!
Thank you so much for sending this in I had a lot of fun working on it :’D <3 I love my gods and I’m always 100% up for chatting about them :D
(gosh I really need to make a standalone post for this! I didn’t realize I had that much to say :’D )
