You knew it was coming, but you’re still not prepared.
You helped your daughter with her dormitory application, secured her college funding months in advanced. Helped her pack, moved her in. The bustle of it all distracts you until the real moment hits:
She’s an adult now. It's time to let her go.
You know she’s a smart kid. Smarter than you ever were at her age. She’s kind; she’ll meet lots of new people and make plenty of friends. She’s careful; she’ll make better mistakes than you did.
* Somewhere on your burning dash board you can spot a shabby sentry station.
* On second glance, the sentry station appears to be a pitchfork sale.
* A familiar skeleton’s waiting for you at the counter.

"Hey, is that.. that is! Hi, it's been a long while! Justin, look who's here!"
He waves over to the coated child, whom looked over, arms crossed with a small smile. Adjusting his glasses, he looks genuinely happy as he began to walk over towards Bones.
"My, someone's giddy. Or course, it's only natural.. we haven't seen each other in so long."
“Why are you saying it???”
"Aren't you happy?"
“I... I don’t know.”
The kid looks down, fingers digging into the dirt where they sit. “I should be happy. I don’t have a reason not to be. I’ve got more than I ever expected I would- and far more than I deserve. I should be over the fucking moon. But...” They shake their head. “I don’t know. I’m probably just being dumb and selfish and ungrateful.”
