Where do you think people got the idea that Race Higgins is Italian/real name is Anthony (or some variation of the name Anthony) his name is Ed, which may not be canon in the musical, but his last name in the musical is canonically Higgins and the name ‘Higgins’ is a VERY Irish last name? What are your thoughts?

I actually know the answer to this one!!

The reason everyone hcs him to be Italian is because in the screenplay for the 1992 movie has this quote:

A boys hand shoots some dice— it belongs to RACETRACK HIGGINS, an Italian beanpole, who’s gambling with THREE OTHER BOYS

So yeah!! He’s canonically Italian, at least for 92sies

I know he’s based off of the ACTUAL Racetrack Higgins, whose name was Ed, who was also the leader of Brooklyn!

There’s a lot that isn’t exactly like the actual strike!

Jack Kelly didn’t exist.

Kid Blink and David Simmons were the strike leaders.
