He tries to be evil - he really does, but always comes off as more of a nuisance than an actual threat.
Really, not even the Inquest really want him.
So, he goes off on his own, making experiments that more often than not blow up in his face - both metaphorically and physically (as seen by the white scars on his body and his hair now being white).
His failures never really deter him, though. He’s determined to be a big threat to Tyria and finally have the famed Commander come after him, as opposed to the typical other way around.
Syloff is chaotic and smug, and he firmly believes nobody can amount to what he is, or who he will be.
