Well. Here he is. The project which has kept me busy since January. My own Canach doll!!!
This is going to be a very heavy picture post, because I have made pictures of all the customization process, but never posted any of them. So I'm hiding all of them under the cut. Please come and see.
So everything started when I began talking to my best BJD-obsessed friend online about my current obsession with GW2 and Canach. She got all excited and challenged me to get my own Canach doll... At first I was like "nononono, customizing a doll as a sylvari is dificult..." but she said "Come on, YOU CAN DO IT".
Yes I could. Of course. We started looking for dolls online I could use as a base (she would do anything to make me purchase a new doll) but I needed a short body because we all know Canach is a shortie, and checking my old dolls I found the perfect one...
A Little Rebel Tenten doll in a Fantasy Doll boy body (this is probably information no one outside the BJD world will get but whatever) I had in a box waiting to be painted since... 2014! Almost as old as the character himself XD.
Checking the features, he was perfect for Canach. I made a mockup with Monster Clay and it was clear he was the one.
Then it was time to make the definitive modifications with epoxy.
I'm pretty proud of how the ears ended (I had to sand the original ones)
For the head spykes and the body I changed the epoxy brand. Also for the body I just added some leaves. Maybe I should have carved too but it the end, he's gonna be dressed so I must admit I didn't work so hard.
Then it was time to paint it. Most people in this hobby will tell you I should have dyed it but I have never had good experiences with dyeing so I prefered to spray all the pieces.
Then the details. Yes. He glows in the dark (but only if I expose him to very bright sunrays)
The project stopped for a while until I got an outfit for him. The outfit was purchased, but I had to add all the golden and red details, and modify the vest (which was white too).
He still needs red shoes, because the ones I purchased were the wrong size. I will get proper pictures of him with my Commander doll as soon as I get them!
