Andre Matos bday today... :(

Can't believe it's been 5 years now.

At 47 years old, the amazing, most talented and wonderful Brazilian composer, vocalist, pianist and solo artist Andre Matos has died. I can’t express how sad I am to hear about this. This man had an incredible voice and composed some of the best song lyrics I’ve ever heard. He was a big contribution to the Brazilian and also European heavy metal music. In high school, his songs would make me feel simply celestial. I’ve never had the opportunity to actually meet him, but I’m glad I got to know his music.

Besides his solo band, he was also involved with  Viper, Angra, Shaman and Symfonia. Andre also participated in songs by other bands like Avantasia.

what to do when art block? do a lil study from music videos!!!

the process:

i firstly draw the sketch in grids, then i blend the lines based on its values. the sketch was originally in green so i can see it better. and when im done with it i coloured below the sketch with colours that almost match. and since the background is already in peach colour i just set the sketch layer to Multiply. after the colours i add more lighting on his face and shirt (2 layers, set to Dodge and Overlay).

Unfortunately i couldn't record the timelapse because 1) I used Paint Tool SAI and 2) if i used OBS it lags my old janky laptop, which would test my patience lol. A shame honestly.

Teraz wyobraź sobie, że słuchasz orkiestry, w której dźwięk bębna jest tak głośny, że żadnego innego dźwięku nie można usłyszeć. By odczuć przyjemność płynącą ze słuchania symfonii, musisz być wrażliwy na wszystkie instrumenty orkiestry. By być zdolnym do miłości, musisz być wrażliwy na niepowtarzalność i piękno każdego przedmiotu i każdej pojedynczej osoby, które cię otaczają. Z trudem można powiedzieć, że kochasz coś, czego nawet nie dostrzegasz; jeśli dostrzegasz tylko nieliczne stworzenia z wykluczeniem wszystkich innych, to nie można tu wcale mówić o miłości, gdyż miłość nie wyklucza niczego ani nikogo; ona obejmuje całe życie; wsłuchuje się w dźwięk całej symfonii, a nie w głosy poszczególnych instrumentów.
