I am really interested to know how that Gooigi fusion au is going to continue. Some unsorted thoughts: How will Mario react once he's freed? Can Luigi still fully assume his human form? Do Gooigi's weaknesses still apply to the more Luigi state? How did they get past the hotel's puzzles requiring two people? Can they be separated? What was Luigi wearing in that one comic where E Gadd was rambling?

A LOT OF GREAT QUESTIONS. I really love to get into the details also - but sometimes I gotta know which to not explicitly answer. This gives myself more narrative flexibility by not completely pigeonholing myself if I wanna change a detail later on. That being said, I can answer some of your questions :)

How will Mario react? I guess we’ll have to wait and see 😌

Luigi can still (mostly) assume his human form. Externally, all looks the same, and he can interact with water and doorknobs and all that no problem. But- when Gooigi takes over the physical form, he’s susceptible to all of Gooigi’s weaknesses, but the consequences are different. Splashing them with water in this form will cause their fused cells to quickly (and painfully) revert back to human form. There is additionally their mixed/split form, where some of their cells are “Gooigified” and others are “Luigified.” In this form, it’s case-dependent on % takeover of each cell type AND the individual body parts themselves.

It is not concretely shown at what point in their mission that Luigi accidentally broke the containment unit and pressed the “return” button for Gooigi (thus causing the uncomfortable fusion). But I imagine they had to get crafty for the remaining puzzles they had to solve!

They cannot, as of yet, be separated, due to them being fused at the cellular level.

In that comic where E Gadd was rambling, Luigi (the poor thing) was wearing a shock blanket provided by E Gadd.
