One last jam session with only the Yamaha CS Reface. The Behringer RD-6 that I was waiting on should be arriving tomorrow, with the rest of the equipment trickling in after that.
You can hear a lot of pauses in this jam session. I’m still getting used to the tiny keyboard, I keep accidentally trying to do octaves in the left hand and accidentally doing 9 notes apart instead of 8 because of the tiny keys, so I keep having to stop and fix my hand position. I’ll get used to them eventually.
I’m trying to find a balance between doing things that are NOT in the key of A minor or C major so that I can challenge myself to get better at keyboard, but also finding things that aren’t impossible to do on the smaller keyboards of the new synths I’m getting. Unfortunately my only full sized keyboard is USB MIDI only, so the only way I’d be able to use it to control the new equipment is if I have a computer over there. And I’m already going to have trouble fitting all of my equipment into the tiny corner where I’ll be setting up my new studio, getting a laptop and my full sized keyboard in there would be pretty impossible for the moment.
I kind of killed the batteries in the Yamaha during the last couple of weeks, and the power cable is already integrated into the desk setup for the new little corner studio, so instead of putting new batteries in and recording at my computer, I decided to try and see how useful my little Zoom H2 is for recording through the stereo input. I don’t have the right cables to actually get stereo, so it only recorded in mono. But not too shabby for something that is basically just a portable Blue Yeti-type home microphone.
