this was on my desktop and i just looked at it after recovering some of my old files; it was a thing we did in our writing group where we were supposed to try to write 100 sentences in a time limit about one of our characters (while trying to start as few of them as possible with a pronoun). i did eight. i want this file outta here so i'm putting the things here
If Syrene's attention isn't captivated completely, she'll very quickly find something else to do.
As excellent as she is with coordinating her outfits, she can't style her hair for beans.
That said, her skills with cosmetics are exceptional.
She prefers to wear skirts and dresses, but doesn't have anything against pants if they suit the outfit.
The weight of responsibility is too much for her to bear; she's terrified of losing her carefree lifestyle and so she dismisses, trivializes, and buries anything that threatens it.
When she was younger, Syrene wanted to be a model, but it didn't take her long to realize that wearing nice clothes wasn't nearly as fun if she had no involvement in their creation.
The only one who consistently listens to and aids in remedying Syrene's many woes as if they're all legitimate regardless of how dramatic and petulant Syrene is acting is Andy, who is not significantly older but still acts somewhat as a mother figure.
More often than not, Syrene's first impression is the best opinion that people have of her; her bubbly amicability very quickly loses its charm, and the longer someone knows her, the more prominent her dramatic behavior becomes.
nittasan answered your question: Im not actually going to reblog this post about...
all of them for syrene!
WOW THIS ENDED UP BEING REALLY LONG
Childhood: Syrene's one of the only OCs I have whose background I don't have much solidified for? Everything's still totally up in the air and I'm just as likely to 180 this, but: she's always lived really high-class and luxuriously; her parents are ~wealthy social people.~ She's grown up getting all of the material possessions she wants and loving it. She also tended not to get much attention either, though—her parents didn't actually mean to have a kid, but since they're big deals within their community they weren't about to make an issue or a potential scandal out of it. Mostly she got raised by nannies up until a certain point where she could basically take care of herself if someone left dinner in the fridge for her and instructions on how to heat it up. The lack of attention wasn't really a thing she consciously interpreted as a big deal; it was how things were and all she ever knew, so whatever. She still sort of longed for companionship without realizing it, though, so she's grown up to be very needy and clingy.
She was home schooled by tutors until like, the middle of middle school/beginning of high school. For the most part she grew up without having a lot of friends her age—she met kids at some of those swanky socialite parties sometimes (if a guest/host ever brought up "you have a kid I have a kid we can let them do kid things upstairs") but never really had any close friends.
She was super popular on a superficial level when she first got to school for like, two weeks, and then everyone realized how awful she was. 8'|
Yeeeahh basically she was a lonely spoiled child who didn't really realize she was either of those things.
Bedroom: She has a shitton of stuff—makeup, clothing, accessories, cute trinkets and decorations—but her room is super neat and organized because she wants to know where all of it is at all times! It looks like she has half the stuff that she actually does because she's so pro at condensing it. It's painted a very pale and neutral green with similarly pale blue accents, and her stuff mostly follows that color scheme. She has a pretty big boudoir for her makeup and hair stuff that has a mirror lined with seashells (that she picked out and glued on herself)—in general she keeps a lot of beach paraphernalia around. There are shelves along her wall for most of her trinkets (more beach stuff, cute dolls/stuffed toys, etc.) with edges lined with white seashells, too. There's a really big bulletin board on her wall by her bed that she fills with cut-outs from newspapers/magazines/the internet (her favorite celebrities, fashion tips, outfits she likes, pretty beach photos, pretty animals) and reminders and/-dos.
She has one of those walk-in closets but not a huge one (as far as walk-in closets go, I guess)? Closer to this, maybe. Obviously this is where her pretty clothes and shoes go (and she has a dresser outside of it too, but it's not very big). The inside of the door has a rack for some of her jewelry, there's small set of drawers on the inside for infrequently-used accessories, and the back wall has a full-length mirror. She also keeps a bunch of photos around the mirror of herself with her friends.
She's big on feng shui, but the kind that grocery store stand women's magazines write about, and it also has to jive with her sense of aesthetics. Every few months, she'll get the urge to reorganize everything and she has Andy and Percy come help her move things around, but her bed and bulletin board always stay in the same place, and no one is ever allowed in her closet.
Any AU: OH NO BUT WHICH AU!! Pokémon AU I guess? She has a Cinccino, Delcatty, Granbull, Altaria, Vaporeon, and Beautifly! They all have nicknames that are meaningless but pretty-sounding, I just can't think of any right now. Cinccino is Eloise. She participates competitively in contests and musicals—she spent a while traveling the world to get a flavor for the regional alternatives—and she's totally killer at it. She's still young so she's still working her way into the big leagues, but she's being watched to see if she has the stuff to make it, because she has potential. She's somewhat settled in the Unova region with a group of traveling trainers (her group of buds) who have put up with her longer than anyone else. She's not really cut out for trainer traveling (she stubbornly values her style over its practicality) and isn't much of a battler herself (she's completely miserable at it because she only knows how to be showy and doesn't like getting her Pokémon dirty), but that's just a testament to how fond she is of her group.
Cooking: She's an okay cook! She's nothing special, but she can feed herself. Generally, no one goes out of their way to ask her to cook for things, but if she volunteers everyone is pretty happy with that. Her food is always really pretty-looking but not as tasty as you'd expect it to be based on that. Mostly she cooks lots of ~health foods~ and is pretty great at vegan cuisine because of Andy.
Mood: I STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS? UHHH. Her default state is "perky" but she's wicked volatile.
i answered these questions for Syrene because I've lost control of my life
what do they do when they put their socks on backwards by accident
Remove them and put them on correctly. Do you think she was raised in a barn.
how do they feel about those really tiny square bandaids
She throws little thirty-second tantrums every time they fall off too soon, as they inevitably do, but still uses them consistently because she doesn't want those standard-sized ones all conspicuous there on her.
how many repeats do they have of the same item in their game inventory
Games aren't really her thing but if they were she would have like, two or three at the most (she hardly has an inventory at all).
would they reuse floss
In a pinch, yeah.
how do they feel about heelys
She's personally offended by their existence.
would they wipe cheeto dust off their hands or lick it off
If other people were around she'd find a napkin and wipe it, but otherwise she'd lick her entire hand.
if someone shaved off their left eyebrow would they draw on another. how would it look
Yes, and it would look flawless.
do they go along with the tour or walk off and star in a quirky family-friendly coming of age adventure movie
She gets distracted and walks off but instead of starring in the quirky family adventure, she panics and calls Andy and blubbers into the phone "I'M LOOOOOOOOST TAKE ME HOOOOOOMMMMEEEE"
what are their opinions the weird stringy parts in bananas
Okay I actually had to google what this was talking about because I don't eat bananas??? She is vaguely unnerved by them. She doesn't usually eat bananas either though because she doesn't wanna look like she's sucking a dick.
how passionate are they about the use of the salad fork
She makes a point to use proper forks when she remembers in an attempt to seem cultured but only gets on anybody else's case in nice restaurants. She makes scenes about salad forks at her friends.
As a little girl, Syrene wanted to be a model, but she grew into preferring design over display when it came to the fashion industry very quickly; she wants to set trends instead of wear them! Admittedly she's not as out-there and revolutionary as, say, Andy, but she's way too picky about clothing and style to deal with other people's tastes.
Andy tried to take up the clarinet in middle school but it just didn't work for her; she's more of a string instruments gal. She bought the clarinet secondhand, though, instead of renting one from the school, so it wasn't like she had to return it. She has only used it once ever since, but not to play it; somebody tried to break in thinking no one was around so she beat them back with the clarinet because she was cleaning so it was in the immediate vicinity. She refuses to throw it away because of this occurrence. It is her treasure and her favorite icebreaker.
Today (yesterday)'s OC fact: Syrene is one of those people who orders salads at restaurants for the sake of how she's perceived. She actually doesn't like bulky, greasy foods like burgers (which is convenient for her, because she also is very careful about her figure) but goddamn does she like desserts.
Today's OC fun fact! Syrene has long, strong nails and takes excellent care of them instead of using fake ones. This way she can repaint them constantly so that they mach her outfits.
Taking a page out of Naoko's book and trying some daily character fun facts! I'll tag them all as #oc daily fact along with the usual character tags (#Full Name.)
Today's fun fact! Andy convinced Syrene to get a nose piercing once, partly on the basis that it was a shame that she wasn't doing anything with that lovely (enormous) nose of hers. It was a disaster for everyone involved because even though Andy always knows what she's doing, Syrene didn't clean it properly and ended up barging into her house in the middle of the day sobbing over the infection she acquired.
Flora: Very fine cursive, writes relatively small but not too much so, uses small circles to dot her i's, a slow writer who makes sure everything looks as it should, excellent speller, great grammar for her age
Haru: Writes very small to conserve space, writes over instead of erasing when she can, the problem with having a character who writes in Japanese is that I have no idea how characters work and can't translate all of the ideas I had written down initially about her only using lowercase and making her letters as simple as possible (ex. a straight line for an uppercase I, no extra tails on letters like m or a) into that
Piper: Big letters, sharp lines, avoids using curves in her letters when she can, scribbles things out instead of erasing them, not a very good speller and doesn't care, relatively hard to read
Syrene: Cutesy cursive, always slants slightly to the left, a little bigger than average, likes to put hearts in her notes, good speller, decent grammar but messes up little rules that everyone always forgets anyway and is never going to get "Percy and I" instead of "me and Percy" right
Andy: Large, very flowy cursive, big loops, swishy curves and lines, dots her i's with stars, difficult to read but very pretty to look at; people tell her that she should take up calligraphy or ask if she already does, great speller (always looks up anything she can't figure out), knows her grammar but doesn't care much about most of the rules in informal writing
