She slips the bracelet on her wrist. It’s pretty, the flower charm dangling and catching the faint light of the afternoon sun.

Glancing around, Em reaches under her bed and procures her own creations. One’s a bracelet in all shades of blue, with tiny stones threaded on that she found outside. The other, a hair clip with a sun made out of scrap cloth and a barrette she found on the ground.

I had wanted to give these in person, but this can work, too. That way, if they hate it, I won’t know.

Gently, she places each gift under her groupmates respective pillows.
