Heyyyyy :D Got any secrets about the Seeing You Smile Makes Me Smile Too series???

Oof, that old thing. Totally haven’t accidentally abandoned it or anything, lol. XD

I think the biggest confession I have about that series is how planned out it originally was? 

Like, I have this whole outline of backstories and future parts that were supposed to be written. Things from: all the kids meeting and getting along with each other, Henrik meeting Stacy for the first time, how (and what rings) Chase and Hen would propose to each other (years down the road in their relationship), and Hen’s past with Anti. I knew exactly what kinds of scenes/moments I wanted to have happen in that AU, and now they’re just collecting dust in my discord. 

I still want to write them, but I’m torn. I kinda wanna rewrite (again) the whole thing. After having written Chances Are You Think My Heart’s Your Valentine, I think I could write and develop it better. It was my first foray into fanfic and Schneeplebro-I got too excited and rushed and crammed a lot in those first two uploads. I’d like to think my skills have evolved since then, lol. If I were to start it all over, I would pace things out differently. However, I don’t know if I ever could? I think it would end up this massive project that I don’t know if I could finish. 

Also, I don’t know if I could write from Henrik’s pov again? I’ve spent so much time staying in Chase’s head/voice, Henrik’s seems so different now. I would like to try it again though. Maybe one day? 

A random secret from that AU? Henrik has a photography hobby because his mother was a busy model before she passed away when he was a child. So he liked to take her picture because she would always stop for him and drag him into a photo together. Those are his favorite memories of her.

3. Favorite line/scene you wrote this year?

Aaaaah. That’s so hard! Favorite scene is either in ‘Control’, when Chase is holding his hat over his crotch. Or, in ‘Pancakes and Strawberry Syrup’, where Chase is trying to flip pancakes onto the plate and Schneep just watches, utterly besotted. I don’t have a favorite line, sorry! 

12.  Favorite character to write about this year?

99% of what I write is Chase and Schneep so it’s gonna have to be those two. I can’t choose between them, sorry! With Schneep I try to make his dialogue and the diction in his pov more formal/nuanced. I also don’t write ‘zat’ or accent stuff because I don’t want to disrespect how people with a German accent actually talk by over using or misusing words like that. With Chase, it’s more relaxed, more (an attempt at being) humorous. Both boys mean a lot to me so I try to keep them as true while also having my own take on their characters. 

21. Most memorable comment/review?

I cherish all my reviews so much, they really mean a lot to me. But I think this review for ‘Control’ made me cry in relief: 

“I am so glad you added the kinks and had a hand slip because this was fantastic! The pacing was great and their mannerisms and dialogue was spot on, especially Chase fumbling around and being adorably flushed. Is this something that might get added to later, especially for the teased oral?”

It was the first one I got for ‘Control’ and it was like, ‘yes, ok, I did something right, this fic isn’t totally weird!!’ lol. But honestly, and idk if this is weird, but I reread my reviews a lot because they give me confidence to keep going. Which is why I’m trying to be better and leave stories I read more comments too!

1. Favorite fic you wrote this year?

My newest fic, Control. I tried a few new things with that one: tense, point of view, kink/smuttiness. I was (still am tbh) so blown away with how well received it was! I thought it was awkward and too out of my comfort zone. But after completing it, I was actually really proud of how it came out! It was more chill and fun to write because it was just a burst of an idea, lol. And I definitely want to continue it and try more things out!! 

13. Favorite writing song/artist/album of this year?

Ah man, that’s so hard. I’ve listened to so much incredible music this year. I’ve had a ton of playlists playing for writing. My 2018 Wrapped (link on my page) are the songs I’ve listened to the most that really shaped my writing. I loved the band MISSIO, their songs ‘Twisted’ and ‘Everybody Gets High’ are utterly amazing.. But I made a playlist for my ‘Seeing You Smile Makes Me Smile Too’ AU, and there’s a song called 'October’ by Jon D that always puts me in the right mindset to write!

15. Something you learned this year?

To just go with it. There are so many scenes that just wrote themselves in my fics. Things that I had not originally planned for. But as I as writing, they demanded to be written down and included! I’d have an internal struggle with it because my confidence is shite when it comes to writing, but I had to learn to trust my gut and listen to my friends and keep going! That’s another big thing I learned: talk to my friends about writing. I’ve asked people I trust to read over drafts or help talk me out plot stumps. They’ve been beyond wonderful and kind and really helped me to keep going! <3 I don’t know how to link here, but their links are in my story notes on Ao3!
