LETTERS TO A YOUNG PUNK (CIRCA 16) -- ON PRIDE
Gets harder from here on out, so listen up.
When someone tells you to tone it down, go harder. Get louder.
Hope isn't soft and it isn't fragile. It's stubborn and sharp, and it'll drag you through hell kicking and screaming.
Don't pick stupid fights. Call out bullshit when you see it, and hold your ground. You have every right to sing countertenor, and to wear those suits. Fight like hell if you have to -- I wish I had.
Hydration and carbs before a night in the pit; electrolytes afterward. Remember your earplugs. Leave your glasses. Trust that someone will catch you.
Hold on tight. And when you fall, pick yourself the fuck up.
